On my system, there is something creating a notification every 40 - 60 seconds, and it disappears before I get to see what it says. To stop it from disturbing me I have turned on "Do not disturb". I have no extensions installed. If this crash is related to notifications, it could be that has been a latent issue and that it surfaces now due to something spamming notifications? I guess it depends on what others see. [Bug 1918273] Re: I can't move the windows on Ubuntu 21.04
I've encountered the same problem today. I did a little more testing, and I've observed other issues as well, some which may be related, arguably some which may be separate bugs, but I'll list them nonetheless: * Cannot move gnome-terminal windows by dragging the title bar. * Right clicking the gnome-terminal title bar opens the context menu, but it disappears as soon as the right mouse button is released. (As a partial workaround for the first bullet: If I hold the right mouse button, go down to "Move", and then release it, it activates the Move option and I can move the window.) * Other windows (firefox snap, emacs) won't switch focus back to gnome-terminal easily unless you resize the window a little bit, after which they'll allow you to do so. Strangely, the same problem doesn't extend to switching between snapped firefox and emacs. * alt-tab doesn't show any visual overlay, and only switches between the last 2 windows. * Toggling a VPN connection via the top right hand corner menu will cause a crash and reload of the UI. (I just toggled my connection to the Canonical VPN twice, and each time I did so, this happened.) I don't know if there's a shared underlying library that this is all related to or not; maybe these issues need to be broken apart. Nonetheless, reporting this so at least we have the info somewhere. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to mutter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1918273 Title: I can't move the windows on Ubuntu 21.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1918273/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1916488] Re: SRU 1.64.5 to focal
Hello Marco, or anyone else affected, Accepted gjs into focal-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gjs/1.64.5-0ubuntu0.20.04.01 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users. If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed- focal to verification-done-focal. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification- failed-focal. In either case, without details of your testing we will not be able to proceed. Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance for helping! N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s) fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in -proposed for a minimum of 7 days. ** Changed in: gjs (Ubuntu Focal) Status: In Progress => Fix Committed ** Tags added: verification-needed verification-needed-focal -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gjs in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1916488 Title: SRU 1.64.5 to focal To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gjs/+bug/1916488/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1917801] Re: Multi monitor bug opening windows (not responsive to input in the location it is drawn)
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy. [Bug 1917926] Re: Window focus issues for Xorg sessions in 3.38.3-3ubuntu1
Confirmed the clicking on a window problem is fixed by adding in 4d54c3c556d753c0b981406937948895141dc1d4. But I can't figure out exactly what is causing the Alt-Tab issue. It looks like it's somewhere in this massive commit: https://salsa.debian.org/gnome- team/mutter/-/commit/c4e7908058149f2efbe4c8d306d14da51cc80f5f I recommend reverting that because it's obvious now we can't maintain it or vouch for its stability. Even if I bisected the series file, making changes to such a large patch series is not something I would endorse or want to support. I found another bug related to this problem.
