I installed 21.04 on X1 Nano, I found it used gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons-ng by default. So I removed the gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons-ng and installed gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons, and enable the extension in tweak-tool, after that I couldn't reproduce this issue. **

Thanks for the bug report. First please remove any extensions you might have locally installed: cd ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/ rm -rf extensions and then log in again. Next time the "delaying" starts please hit Ctrl+Alt+T to open a Terminal and then run 'top' to see what process is using
