gsettings reset org.gnome.ControlCenter last-panel
and then you should be able to successfully open Settings. But avoid
"Users" for now.

In the short time since I've installed the recent GNOME updates in
Lunar, I've been logged out spontaneously at least three times while my
laptop lid was closed and screen locked and I wasn't doing anything with
my computer. Perhaps the attached logs will help you figure out
UPDATE: disabling ubuntu-dock seems to have resolved things. Initially
it was about 50/50 whether I could open or see windows properly until I
rebooted. I've now done 3-4 reboots and it's worked every time.

Heinrich also tried gnome-shell 44rc and had the same problem.
I noticed that we have disabled the mutter build tests from being run on
Debian's riscv64.
