I try to print with one of the two network printer that I previously tested and
it works!
To test the second printer I have to return to university, probably next week.

I can't print from evince using a network printer. I tested with 2
different network printers, both HP.
From printers menu I can print the test page correctly. I also can print
pdf using okular, but with evince nothing happens.

the problem seems to be correlated to ssh. SSH (only if there was a connection
error?) change the permission of the file /var/log/btmp to 660. I often use ssh
and sometimes it gives me a
