I think I've accidentally purged the configuration of the config server.
It can't update /var/lib/gdm/.ICEauthority because the folder and the

solution:
1. Open Home folder
2. Right click on problem folder
3 Choose Open With
4. Choose Other Application...
5. Make sure remember this application for folder files is clicked

Followed the instructions at the above link. Thanks Pedro.
Not getting anywhere, so I'm going to remove the elementary ppas and see
if I can reinstall the original lucid package, which also segfaulted
last time with a bug
I also have this problem. Nautilus not responding in karmic. Will try
adding the patched ppa to see if it helps.
