[Bug 1879968] Re: copy/paste still sometimes fails in LibreOffice on mutter 3.36.2

2020-08-21 Thread Davide
Ubuntu 20.04, mutter 3.36.4
I did some testing with libreoffice (calc, writer) and it seems that the bug is
solved for me
(I didn't try wine).

[Bug 1931494] Re: Wrong scaling

2021-11-17 Thread Davide
The problem described above occurs on a 24 inch monitor with a
resolution of 1920x1200 pixels (16:10), if I use a 19 inch monitor with
a resolution of 1280x1024 (5:4) pixels the documents are shown with the
correct scale. I found the same bug on three different PCs.

[Bug 1931494] [NEW] Wrong scaling

2021-06-09 Thread Davide
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 20.04
Evince 3.36.10

If I set the scale to 100% the document on display is twice the real size.
To see the document at the correct size I have to set the scale to 50%.
Evince 3.36.7 does not have this bug.

[Bug 1852183] Re: [X11] copy/paste (clipboard) is broken in Ubuntu 19.10 & 20.04 (see comment 93)

2020-05-14 Thread Davide
Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, focal proposed enabled, all package upgraded,
gir1.2-mutter-6 3.36.2-1ubuntu1~20.04.1
libmutter-6-03.36.2-1ubuntu1~20.04.1
mutter 3.36.2-1ubuntu1~20.04.1
mutter-common3.36.2-1ubuntu1~20.04.1
libreoffice 6.4.3-0ubuntu0.20.04.1

Tested libreoffice calc on two different machines,
unfortunately for me the bug is still present:
I have to repeat the copy action twice to make sure it succeeds.

Same problem also with Gorilla Groovy (tested on a virtual machine).

2020-05-14 Thread Davide
I was rushed sorry (comment #127). For me the problem occurs
systematically only using the copy command from the context menu (right
click), otherwise at the moment I was unable to reproduce it. This is
probably another bug. I did the tests on two real machines.

[Bug 1879968] Re: copy/paste still sometimes fails in LibreOffice on Ubuntu 20.04

2020-05-21 Thread Davide
I tried libreoffice (calc and writer) on two real machines.
If I use the copy command from the context menu (mouse right click),
it fails once every two (second, fourth, sixth,...).
With the other methods the error rate is approximately 1/20 (the one indicated
by Adam)

[Bug 1792085] Re: Regression: MTP not working/very slow

2020-05-22 Thread Davide
Hi, I came back after a while and I found a nice link to deb packages at post
#47 (thanks!).
I installed them and speed is improved, but file copies are still crashing
randomly. The most common error message is "libmtp error: Could not send
object." (it's an mp3).

I will upgrade to Ubuntu 20 as soon as possible, but I don't know what
to expect. Since two years I cannot realiably move files between my
smartphone and my computer, it's quite sad. At least in previous phones
it was easier to extract the SD card... :-(

And again folders with more than 124 items become unreadable and

[Bug 1766230] Re: Strange window matching behaviour between Slack and Chrome

2020-01-06 Thread Davide
I can confirm this happens in ubuntu 18.04.3 between Chrome and Slack.
Workaround in #3 doesn't work for me, as WM_CLASS is already correctly set,
i.e.:
* slack:  `WM_CLASS(STRING) = "slack", "Slack"`
* chrome: `WM_CLASS(STRING) = "google-chrome", "Google-chrome"`

However, killing both applications and relaunching seems to correct the
issue.

[Bug 1792085] Re: Regression: MTP not working/very slow

2020-02-23 Thread Davide
I am also affected by this bug, on Ubuntu 18.04. I can't get the list of
files from a folder on the phone ("could not get object handles"). No
brackets in file names, just a folder named "Camera" and default Android
names for pictures.

Manually installing and linking version 1-1-17 does not help. And, by
the way, release documentation is wrong, since in the archive there is
no "configure" file but one has to run "autogen.sh" first, then
"configure" is created.

If that can be of interest, the "unlistable" folder has 124 files.

I erased all the content from the phone, then I tried to copy 127 items;
124 of them were copied, then Nautilus hang, the last three were never
copied and the folder became unaccessible.

[Bug 1283003] Re: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates

2015-01-06 Thread davide
I'm having the same problem with a Bose Soundlink III and msi laptop with
ubuntu 14.04 64 bit. I can confirm that a working solution is(as reported
above): http://askubuntu.com/a/391720/57122.
I think that my problem was the absence of pavucontrol package. After its
installation and rebooting the machine the bluetooth connection works well (I
have only to put manually as main audio peripheral the soundlink III in the
audio control panel).
I hope this helps.

[Bug 1835720] [NEW] Nautilus crash while searching NTFS partition over Samba

2019-07-08 Thread Davide Sandonà
Public bug reported:

I have a NAS server with NTFS disks.

A few days ago I did a fresh installation of Kubuntu 19.04, then I
installed Nautilus because it is my experience that it handles better
this usage scenario. I also installed the smbclient.

When I try to do a file search, eventually Nautilus crashes.
It seems to me that the first file search always goes fine. When I try to do a
second search without closing the search bar (ie, updating the search
keywords), Nautilus crashes. If I close the search bar after a search, and then
I reopen it to do another search, everything works as expected.

[Bug 1835720] Re: Nautilus crash while searching NTFS partition over Samba

2019-07-09 Thread Davide Sandonà
Hello Sebastien,

> Also does it happen every time you follow those steps?

Yes, every time!

I tried to do a backtrace, but it didn't work. Here are the steps I've
followed.

1. Created an /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ddebs with the commands:
echo "deb http://ddebs.ubuntu.com $(lsb_release -cs) main restricted universe
multiverse" | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ddebs.list
echo -e "deb http://ddebs.ubuntu.com $(lsb_release -cs)-updates main restricted
universe multiverse\ndeb http://ddebs.ubuntu.com $(lsb_release -cs)-proposed
main restricted universe multiverse" | sudo tee -a
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/ddebs.list

2. sudo apt-get update

3. Downloaded the script list-symbols-packages-v2.1.sh and run the command:
sudo bash ./list-symbols-packages-v2.1.sh -t -p $(pidof yelp) 2>/dev/null |
xargs -d $'\n' sudo apt-get install

It ended its execution with these lines:
E: Unable to locate package using sudo.
E: Couldn't find any package by glob 'using sudo.'
E: Couldn't find any package by regex 'using sudo.'

4. apport-retrace --sandbox=sandboxdir /var/crash/_usr_bin_nautilus.1000.crash
ERROR: report file does not contain one of the required fields: Package

Is there anything else I can do?

[Bug 997370] Re: Totem does not use the va-api gstreamer backend

2017-01-06 Thread Davide Capodaglio
For me does not work on 16.04.
If I install gstreamer1.0-vaapi (on NVidia card with binary drivers and vdpau
working perfectly with mplayer), totem prints this and does not play anything

libva info: VA-API version 0.39.0
libva info: va_getDriverName() returns 0
libva info: Trying to open /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/nvidia_drv_video.so

[Bug 1259422] Re: Google authentication error in empathy

2014-12-30 Thread Davide Mannarelli
Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS
Update. This morning, after tries and tries, I see this:
- in all of my users (admins and users) inside /home of the first SSD HD,
things are perfect.
- in all of my users (admins and users), inside /home of the second SATA HD,
things goes bad: no activated accounts.
I even tried to mix accounts (google, fb, irc, and so on) to make a double
check.
...strange, but maybe this trouble could be solved

Still not working for me on 14.04, I have a NVidia card with binary drivers,

2010-03-06 Thread Davide Lasagna
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

I've upgraded to the Lucid Lynx from Karmic. Probably gvfs-backends package got
uninstalled in the upgrade and i could no more connect to remote servers with
Nautilus. So i've installed gvfs-backends package which provided me with the
remote connection. I've checked with synaptic, gvfs-backends in just
recommended and not a dependency.
Is there a reason for this or is it a bug?

Cheers,

 Davide

[Bug 517651] Re: Could not connect after I changed all my accounts

2010-03-06 Thread Davide Lasagna
I would not say that this bug is invalid. I've experienced the same
thing and i had to delete a facebook account from empathy and creating
it again to make empathy log in. So we have a solution but many user
will never come here and see it. This should be done automatically by
empathy.

[Bug 533531] Re: gvfs-backends package should be a dependency of gvfs not only recommended

2010-03-08 Thread Davide Lasagna
But at least, when the user tries to connect to a server, it should be
pointed to him that he can install this package to have much more
functionality. Just a question: is this package in the default lucid
iso? If yes why it has been removed during my upgrade from karmic? From
the user point of view it seems a regression, because some functionality
available in karmic was lost on lucid. That's why I reported this as a
bug.

Davide

[Bug 514413] [NEW] View not mantained in logical volume

2010-01-29 Thread Davide Totaro
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

When I browse directories in a extended partition of a logical volume, nautilus
doesn't save the folder view. For example: I set "view as list", I open another
directory then I return back and the view is ANCORA "view as icon". The problem
is not present in primary volume, also NTFS or usb hard disk.
Also the position of desktop icons isn't saved at reboot (I've /home in a
separated, extended partition).

[Bug 368850] [NEW] Missing italian translations (but present in .mo?)

2009-04-28 Thread Davide Capodaglio
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

When using the "Burn CD audio" some strings miss italian translation.
I noticed for example "Converting audio tracks" and "The files selected did not
fit on the CD.".
But it's strange that these two strings are present and correctly translated in
"rhythmbox.mo" and "nautilus-cd-burner.mo".

[Bug 373445] Re: Detect PDF/A document

2009-05-08 Thread Davide Capodaglio
No I don't have any rendering issue.
But PDF/A has become an international standard for "the long-term archiving of
electronic documents" (from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PDF/A).
For example in Italy this format is required by many public organizations
(Trade Bureau and many others).
So it's important to know when a document is conforming to the standard, and
knowing that it is a "PDF-1.4" is too generic.

Moreover, it should be simple to determine the PDF/A compliance, since the PDF
contains a special metadata for this.
If you open the attached PDF with a simple text editor, you can find this:
(note the xmlns:pdfaid="http://www.aiim.org/pdfa/ns/id/"; namespace, as stated
in wikipedia article)

[Bug 1075196] [NEW] Rhythmbox never starts minimized

2012-11-05 Thread Davide Alberelli
Public bug reported:

Hi! I'm on Quantal (12.10).

What I expected:
If I lunch rhythmbox (2.97-1ubuntu6) from Dash, from Alt+F2, from terminal ecc
it should show the main window.
If i start it from the sound menu (by clicking the Play button, not the
application name) it should start and start playing without showing me the main
window.

What I obtain:
There's no actually a way to start rhythmbox minimized.

In old versions there was an option --hide to launch it without showing the
main window.
In newer versions there should be a gsetting key that remember the last state
(minimized, normal, maximized).
In the last verion it's simply impossible to launch it minimized.

Way to replicate this:
Open rhythmbox, then closed it (Ctrl+Q), then push "Play" in sound Menu.
It does not start playing and, instead show the main window.

[Bug 1040193] Re: Redundant ubuntu-online-accounts and gnome-online-accounts panels using a session other than Unity

2012-12-03 Thread Davide Capodaglio
@Sebastian: how can I disable individual services with ubuntu-online-accounts?
For example, I set up a Google account, but I want to use it with Docs and the
Dash ONLY, and not with Empathy...
I am on 12.10 amd64
