Mute conflict between gnome-volume-applet and gnome-volume-manager
The keybinding mute issue should probably also have a separate bug. On
my workstation, the keybindings control the Master volume, and the
applet slider controls the PCM volume. When using the keybindings, all
operations are correct, whether Volume Control is open or not, and apply
to the Master

muting when using the volume control applet slider with the Volume
Control panel open, please keep searching. You may be experiencing Bug

This system has two CD-ROM drives, which lshw reports as:
_NEC DVD_RW ND-3530A [IDE DVD ROM]
CD-ROM 52X/AKH [IDE CDRW]
The /etc/fstab only has entries for /dev/sd*
When booting with no media in the drives, inserting the first disc (in either
drive) will work as expected, mounting as cdrom0
Nevermind. I just failed to replicate it (last try was a while back).
I think this was fixed in passing with 1.5.15-0ubuntu6. I've not
modified my system beyond updates since the last replication.

I can only reproduce this after first initialising tooltips by
displaying one. If I click on another application, there is again a ~1

I can reproduce this bug on a system without esound installed, so I very

In my case, g-v-m attempts to mount both drives with /dev/hda,
although my second drive is /dev/hdb. As long as one drive is empty, I
have no problems reading the drives, and with both full, I can access

1) It's probably a good idea to add a comment around line 456 that
Encoding is deprecated (see other comments in the area. Check the spec
to see in which version it was deprecated.
2) You don't need to note the deprecation in the check. Try to more
closely

the goal of modifying validate.c so that encoding matches the other
deprecations. As far as I can see, for other cases where a specific
entry is deprecated, the upstream authors have removed the entire
handlers for those

patch applies cleanly, and seems to do many of the right things, but the
resulting package does not compile for me. Separately, a few notes:
1) Line 741 of the resulting file compresses an else statement to a

I've tested this suite in the MID live environment.
The layout is a little cramped at 800x600, but acceptable at 1024x600.
The hildon patch is no longer required with this set of packages.

Which encoding is defined in your locale? Personally, I've not had any
difficulties working with Japanese text for any of en_IN, en_US.utf8,
ja_JP.utf8, or ru_RU.utf8.

as long as multiverse poppler-data package is installed. Could you

I uninstalled ubuntu-desktop, as I don't use some of the default packages. I
track the dependencies manually, which generally works for me. I'll uninstall
it again this weekend, and see if it works now.
