LTSP is not a replacement for XDMCP. Rather, XDMCP (I guess) is needed as part of LTSP. XDMCP plays a much smaller role (i.e. only the X/graphics part) than LTSP (which covers everything from routing sound to USB devices). So it surprises me that XDMCP can't work while I can use LTSP without
