Without compiz it doesn't happen. The window spawns in the foreground, though it sometimes doesn't get the focus. Blowing aways /apps/metacity , /apps/compiz , /apps/compizconfig at the same time seems to have solved it. (compiz must be reading some metacity settings?) Now that it's solved for
