Even after the fix from Bug #187383, gnome-system-monitor's Resources tab is
*unusable* for CPU monitoring because it loads the CPU significantly with graph
drawing alone.
On an Athlon XP 2500+, graph drawing (fullscreen window)
I also think that the CPU usage is still too high. But we can't take over this
bug and reset it's status to New or whatever because a fix _has_ been
released. And it probabably fixed the issue for some.

There are some solutions to the problem. Dropping smooth scrolling (but not
smooth curved lines) is one of them. Dropping the fixed-position vertical lines
is another.

This causes a SEVERE regression for me.
Every Gnome open dialog hangs for about two minutes now before displaying
anything. This also affects the Gnome main menu and the Applications Places
System menu. Trying to open it for the first time freezes *all* panels,
including the window list.

ubuntu has no control at all over it, so nobody here can fix it. Please
report the bug to the author of the application!
BTW: For me, the Huawei usb stick works out of the box with standard
network manager since jaunty.

This is how to easily reproduce the problem (see screenshot):
1) Press Alt F2
2) Type sudo bash (without the quotes), check execute in terminal, press
enter, enter password if asked
3) Type echo $$ (without the quotes) in the terminal to get the process number
4) You see a sudo process in g-s-m,
