[Bug 1812527] Re: [bionic][regression] gnome-shell crashes with SIGSEGV in meta_window_actor_is_destroyed(self=NULL) called from _switchWorkspaceDone() [windowManager.js:1787]

2019-03-16 Thread Jeremy LaCroix
On my end, I haven't been able to reproduce this so far with Ubuntu
Appindicators disabled. It's very stable for me now. I am not 100% sure
this is the fix for me, time will tell. But it's definitely more stable
and possibly even fixed now.

2019-03-06 Thread Jeremy LaCroix
@Daniel, I understand that you want to reproduce it. However, if you
aren't experiencing this bug, then that tells me you don't have a
hardware configuration that is affected by it. If you're affected,
reproducing it is very easy - simply use the keyboard shortcut
designated for switching up or down to another workspace. Every time I
do this, I have a one in five chance of GNOME crashing. It's so common
that I have no chance of NOT reproducing it.

As for apps, if it matters, I only have Firefox, Thunderbird, and gnome-
terminal open at any one time.

@Daniel, this bug has absolutely nothing to do with using an Android
Emulator. I literally get this crash every five minutes, and I've never
used emulation or virtualization of any kind on either of my machines. I
think the Android Emulator was just a red herring.

[Bug 1812527] Re: gnome-shell crashes with SIGSEGV in meta_window_actor_is_destroyed(self=NULL) called from _switchWorkspaceDone() [windowManager.js:1787], often when running Android emulator (QEMU)

I think we need to completely remove Android Emulation from the title

constantly. It's EXTREMELY frustrating.

Disabling animations seemed to resolve it for me too. But now switching

Since this is a regression (the bug was definitely not present at the

systems with this problem.

Also, the Gnome brightness applet that you can add to the panel doesn't

[Bug 268824] [NEW] Ubuntu Intrepid: Alacarte And Kmenuedit Affect Eachother

2008-09-10 Thread Jeremy LaCroix
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: alacarte

While I was previously using only Kubuntu Intrepid, I decided to install
ubuntu-desktop to see what's happening with Ubuntu Intrepid. When I
started to set up my GNOME Menu by rightclicking the application bar and
clicking edit menus, I noticed that the changes I was making to
Gnome's menu were also affecting the KDE menu.

For example, when I sorted the GNOME Games in Alacarte just the way I
like them, the next time I logged into KDE, all the entries I edited in
Gnome were copied over to KDE's Lost Found section. When I accessed
kmenuedit to move those icons out of lost and found, the next time I
logged into Gnome those entries were moved to Other. It's a never
ending cycle.

When installing new applications, the menu entries are created in both
KDE and GNOME as expected. However, when you edit the GNOME menu, the
changes you make should not make any changes at all in the KDE menu, and
vice versa. Other than APT putting the application links in both desktop
environments, the menus should be completely self contained.

I hope my explanation makes sense.

I did have it unchecked. I didn't feel that I needed power management
due to my main computer being a desktop and not a laptop. What other
functions does that process provide?

If I have this problem again, I will post back.

Re: [Bug 201653] Re: Gnome Apperance Manager Doesn't Show Theme Previews

2008-03-19 Thread Jeremy LaCroix
I am using Hardy 64.

I have over 30 themes installed, that I carry over to each Linux install. I
couldn't trace it to any one theme, however it corrected itself after I
started deleting some that I don't use anymore.

If I get the bug again I will attach the xsession-errors.

Unfortunately I don't have easy steps to reproduce the problem, but these
points should do it. First of all, I don't install themes by dragging to the
appearance manager. I download all my themes from gnome-look.org, then I
extract them and copy them to /usr/share/themes, that way the theme carries
over to administrative applications as well.

So in short, copying a bunch of extracted theme folders to /usr/share/themes
is what I do. This has been the way I've been doing this for years now, and
it's always worked.

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

In Hardy, every time I eject a CD or DVD, I get a message that says
Cannot unmount volume. The funny thing is, it does unmount and eject

Steps to reproduce:

1.) Mount a CD or DVD

This bug seems to manifest itself when you have a good number of themes

started working again.

Maybe the Appearance Manager just has a problem when you have a ton of

Re: [Bug 87923] Re: [apport] rhythmbox crashed with SIGSEGV in gst_pad_get_caps()

2007-02-25 Thread Jeremy LaCroix
This problem is 100% reproducible.

To reproduce it, all I need to do is play ANY mp3 either by doubleclicking it
on the playlist or highlighting it and clicking the play button, and then
Rhythmbox disapears and the crash report box comes up.

Thank you for the bug report. Also, please answer these questions:

 * Is this crash reproducible?
 * If so, which are the steps that lead to it?

This will greatly aid us in tracking down your problem.

[Bug 21138] GDM complains about .dmrc

2006-03-18 Thread Jeremy LaCroix
Public bug report changed:

Comment:
To be honest with you, I've forgotten all about this bug. I reinstalled my
Ubuntu, (don't remember why) and I've never had the problem since. What I
reinstalled was Breezy, and then I apt-get'ed Dapper, and I didn't have this
problem either case.

Do you still have that issue if you set your user directory as 755
 instead of 775?
