[Bug 923195] [NEW] Garbled names when creating an address list

2012-01-28 Thread Mannex
Public bug reported:

I created a new contact list. I added members to the list by typing in
their names, pressing enter when the autocomplete got the whole address,
then pressing OK at the bottom. Retrieving the list shows garbled
names/addresses when it is displayed in the Contacts window. Attempts to
mail to the garbled list result in a very angry e-mail server because
the actual addresses seem to be garbled, not just the display of the
information.

[Bug 875931] [NEW] No way to integrate other e-mail app into desktop

Since I decided to stay with Evolution in 11.10, I am wondering if there
is a way to integrate it so that it shows up on the e-mail icon at the

Connected to the internet. Opened software center to install

[Bug 780355] Re: gnome-system-log unable to open most log files

2011-08-07 Thread Mannex
The problem here is that a system restoration was made from a backup,
and the two OS versions were different. In the process, the default
~/.gconf/apps/gnome-system-log/%gconf.xml file was overwritten with an
older version. Apparently, the 10.10 log files were named a little
differently. Not having easy recourse to the default file settings (and
also not wanting to necessarily set the file completely to default
settings), I did the following:

cp ~/.gconf/apps/gnome-system-log/%gconf.xml
~/.gconf/apps/gnome-system-log/oldgconf.xml
gedit ~/.gconf/apps/gnome-system-log/%gconf.xml
gksudo gedit /root/.gconf/apps/gnome-system-log/%gconf.xml

Having both versions of the file open in the editor, I copied root's
listing of which files to open and pasted them over the settings in my
.xml file. A reboot later, and all is well.

This should be re-evaluated as NOTABUG.

[Bug 570876] Re: Quadrapassel window is empty when compiz is enabled

2011-05-15 Thread Mannex
Following Dokuro's suggestion in #16 certainly helped. However, there
are still a LOT of screen weirdness issues. For example, it will draw
normally upon launch. However, moving the window to a new position will
cause the window to go mostly blank again. Starting a game will redraw
it, but while the game is running, accessing the menu items will do
weird things, with some menu items spontaneously disappearing. I have
not seen any other app act this badly. Very weird.

[Bug 713520] [NEW] Quadrapassel play area flashing or not drawing

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-games

Quadrapassel used to work fine. Now, the play area of the window either
is completely blank (i.e. looks like the window background grey) or it
flashes when things are supposed to be moving on it. I tried wiping out
the settings in the local .gconf/apps/quadrapassel path, but it did not
seem to help. Note that it looks similar to when OpenGL is flashing,
although other OpenGL things are working fine (i.e. screensavers).

[Bug 672259] Re: Imported personal contacts not searched on compose window

2010-12-12 Thread Mannex
By the way, I have been able to work around this:

1. Backup Evolution settings.
2. Export personal contacts to a .vcf file
3. Erase all personal contacts
4. Backup Evolution to a different file (i.e. nocontacts.tar...)
5. Import the empty file
6. Import the .vcf file to the personal address book.

Note that steps 4 and 5 seem redundant, but through all the iterations,
it seems I had to do it in order for it to work.

Hope that is useful to anyone else having this problem.

[Bug 517848] Re: Added standard dictionary can't be removed

Seems to be fixed in Dictionary 2.30.0. The fix seems to have been
implemented simply by changing the default name when the add button is
pressed.

Re: [Bug 518227] Re: Evolution closes when saves an appointment

2010-03-15 Thread Mannex
I am assuming the debug package you want me to install would be:
   evolution-dbg 2.26.1-0ubuntu2
Does that sound right? I'm on Jaunty (9.04). Thanks.

Re: [Bug 518227] Re: Evolution closes when saves an appointment

2010-03-15 Thread Mannex
I attached the backtrace to the bug. Hope this helps. To reproduce, I
simply create a calendar appointment and save it. Then, I open it back
up and attempt to make it a recurring appointment. As soon as I press
Save, it segs.

Re: [Bug 518227] Re: Should have better recurring dates

2010-03-12 Thread Mannex
Interesting. I've done it twice now, and both times, when I pressed Save
to save the appointment, Evolution closed completely. Very annoying. Any
ideas why this would happen? Is it because I am modifying an
already-existing appointment?

Re: [Bug 517848] Re: Added standard dictionary can't be removed

2010-02-14 Thread Mannex
Steps to reproduce:

1. Launch Dictionary from menu ApplicationsOfficeDictionary.
2. From menu, select EditPreferences.
3. Double-click on Default Dictionary Server. This should open
(eventually) an Edit Dictionary Source box.
4. Click Close button at bottom of dialog box.
5. Now TWO Default Dictionary Server choices are offered.
6. Select one of them (either one) and press the -Remove button.
7. A box pops up warning about the permanancy of this move. Press
-Remove button in this box.
8. Error box displays Unable to remove source 'Default Dictionary
Server'.

Note that the main window display of servers (on the right panel) does
not update properly, but I think this is another bug.

Hope that helps. Please let me know if you need any more information.
Thanks!

[Bug 518227] [NEW] NOTABUG Should have better recurring dates

2010-02-06 Thread Mannex
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Other calendar applications allow the specification of recurring events
that occur on irregular days. For example, every second Sunday of May
(Mother's Day). There obviously is a way to do this. As a matter of
fact, my cheap $10 pre-pay phone does it. It would really be a nice
feature, and would better compete with the other (evil) guys. Thanks!

[Bug 518239] [NEW] Can't add to Preferred format

2010-02-06 Thread Mannex
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

To be perfectly honest, I am not sure if this is a bug. In the Music tab
of the Preferences window, there is an entry for Preferred format. When
I click this, I get four items. The edit button next to it and its
corresponding dialog box seem to imply that the list can be changed,
i.e. one can add a format to it. In THAT list, I have several additional
formats, one of which I would LIKE to have as a preferred format, but
they do not show up in the Preferred format drop down list.
