I see this as well, on my desktop. My session ends, but then the X
server is respawned (presumably by gdm) during shutdown, displaying the
default GNOME theme instead of the Ubuntu one. It stays there until
sendsigs runs and kills all remaining processes.

We all survived for many years with window managers which allowed
applications to steal focus, and most other window managers still work
that way, so I don't consider this a serious vulnerability.
That said, the focus stealing prevention in metacity is working fine for
me in both dapper and edgy.
The first URL you gave (the launchpad one) includes a status field which
provides that information if available.

I use gtk-key-theme-name = Emacs, and in all other GTK programs, this
gives me Unixish keyboard shortcuts (^U = erase line, ^W = erase word,
etc.). This was also working in xchat-gnome prior to my recent upgrade
to 1:0.13-0ubuntu3, where now ^U brings up the user list and ^W
I was able to get back to my old behaviour by using gtk-can-change-
accels to assign something else to Discussion-Close and
Discussion-Users. I don't understand why this stopped working, though.

I'd consider it an upstream issue. gnome-screensaver really shouldn't
allow OpenGL screensavers to run by default when no acceleration is
available. Please forward upstream.

I have a brand new Plextor PX-740A here, attached via a USB enclosure,
and it does not seem to have this problem. It has never had an audio CD
in it, and the first time I inserted a video DVD, totem opened
correctly.

$ cp ~/.xsession-errors /tmp/xsession-errors
