i see this issue in 10.04 LTS. I am trying to login to a yahoo
webhosting account. nautilus says the file is not a directory because
the root of the sever is inaccessible. The ubuntu client should go to

I just created a brand new user and experience the exact same bug every
time, with either user.
The bug is corrected if, after logging in, I type 'sudo
gnome-settings-daemon' into a terminal. Then, to fix nautilus, I type
'killall nautilus' -- at that point everything runs great.

No, I resolved this with rm -rf ~/.gconf, then reinstating my
customizations. In retrospect, I probably should have checked that
file/directory permissions were appropriate before doing that.
Nevertheless, I consider this a bug for the reason stated above:
The problem has gone away!
I'm not sure how it got resolved. I update all the time so maybe an update
fixed it?
Alternatively two things I did were to:
- enable deleting things without going to trash
- cleared out the content of the physical trash ~/.local/share/Trash/files
Anyway, it now
I found that I can use it reliably without this DBus error, but only if
I do this sequence of steps:
1. If I know the FTP point may have timed out, or if I have received a
DBus error, I can go Places, Computer, and then look for the little
eject icon next to my FTP point in the left sidebar of
I can't really think of anything else to write other than what I wrote in the
description at the top.
Could you let me know what details you think are useful and I'll dig them out?
