Thanks Tom for the work with the patch. I tried it in a fresh virtual (qemu)
Maverick i386 install and it works perfectly (i.e. no gnome-session issues).
I'm testing by the following:
1. Fresh Maverick install (tried with and without updates)
2. GDM set to autologin
3. XDMCP enabled in
I tested this inside my VM and I don't see the issue with manual login
either.

Don't worry checking, I've updated the patch for Oneiric to check if
both ~/.ecryptfs/auto-mount exists and ~/.ecryptfs/Private.mnt is set to
the home directory. That appears to be the method to check if the home
directory is fully encrypted.

The update shows the following results on my Dell mini:
At resolution 160x120:
- Pause of about 4s where no video is displayed
- Between 4-7s erratic frame rate
- 7s+ reliable video
At 1280x1024
- Occasionally frame shown (15s per frame)
It seems an improvement on the 14s delay previously seen.
As a comparison I switched out the vorbis/theora codec and replaced it
MP3/MPEG - the performance was even worse.

Taking out the videorate and videoscale components both of which should
not be doing anything I don't think (i.e. the rate and resolution from
the camera is fine) makes the video work faster. These elements have
not changed from cheese 2.28.1 indicating a possible GStreamer problem.

Had a quick look at this, will try again next week. The issue appears
to be that pressing the cancel button destroys the dialog and creates a
new one that automatically selects the user again. The fix is to only
select the user the first time the dialog is created. I have to find
