Confirmed. Same thing after an update from Ubuntu 13.04 to 13.10.
Layout indicator is always present for me on screensaver, but hotkeys
(Alt+Shift) to change layout won't work. Have to click on the indicator
next to password field in order to change layout.

Yes, the bug has been fixed for my hp6735b.
But recently I discovered that it affects Intel graphic cards used in
netbooks. For example, one can`t adjust brightness on Samsung N210.
Shall I start a new bug for that or post the apport output here?

The Totem player hangs the system after a few seconds when video is
paused in fullscreen mode. If I pause the video and press play fast
enough, everything works fine.
