Upon retesting this issue in Gutsy I have found that there is a twist.
If you are using compiz the dialog containing the logout stalling
question will appear upon your current desktop. If you are using
metacity, the issue will be as originally described.

it's probably normal to not have any speed used for it [the blank command]
I beg to differ. If a CD can't be burned at a faster burn speed you can't blank
it at a faster burn speed either. Believe me I've tried. The only way you can

/etc/gdm/gdmprefetchlist lists a whole lot of files that aren't there (using
the following should show which files are and aren't available:

libraries (gstreamer, xine, mplayer, videolan) have native free WMV9
playback because it has yet to be implemented in ffmpeg. Having said

it is not narrowed down to just one issue I suspect it stands a good chance of
being rejected...

Can you see if you can cause this problem with the default image viewer
( eog ) ? The easiest way to do so is to find an image, press the right
mouse button and select Open With Image Viewer (In the Help - About
box it will say it is Eye of GNOME 2.14.1)

This is almost certianly a compiz bug. If you use metacity (e.g. by
using metacity --replace ) I supsect this bug will go away.

Does the given .mov play for you in totem-gstreamer and does sending a
process make it leave a core dump? If so try this alternative technique:
1. Make a directory and copy moveyourfeet.mov inside.
2. Start a gnome-terminal and cd to that directory.
3. Run
while true; do if [[ `ls core*
It is very odd that the .wavs would not play. I'm fairly sure that they
are handled by good. Is your system up to date (a fix for multichannel
wavs went in a month ago to dapper)? What version(s) of gstreamer are
you running now?
