[Bug 344198] Re: .ppsx (Office 2007 slideshows) files not recognized
Somebody just sent me a PPSX file and I ran into the same issue (using Jaunty up-to-date as of today). According to Wikipedia[1] PPSX is a Microsoft Office 2007 XML Show document. Ubuntu recognizes it as a ZIP file. If I change the extension to PPTX, it's associated with OpenOffice.org Presentation. If I open it, I still have to select a filter however. Selecting the Microsoft Powerpoint 2007 XML filter opens it successfully. Proposal: associate PPSX with OpenOffice.org Presentation just like PPTX because OO.org can open the file type. Caveat: I don't know anything about Microsoft Office so I might be wrong. But in that case this bug could be closed as WONTSOLVE. [Bug 291647] [NEW] Nautilus deletes all users directories when unmounting Sandisk Sansa MP3 player in MSC mode
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus When unmounting a Sandisk Sansa e260 MP3 player (in MSC mode) after deleting files, Nautilus gives a prompt that there are files in the garbage bin that must be deleted before removing the drive. Clicking on the option Empty the garbage bin results in a file operations window that hangs on preparing, and causes all user files be deleted without warning (contents of the user's Home, contents of mounted drives - the only things that was not deleted were system files and one user folder on a mounted drive that did not have write access for some reason). Selecting do not empty trash does not cause any problems. It was my partner that (inadvertently) did this the first time, and I successfully repeated it following the same steps multiple times. This was on a system installed from the 8.10 beta iso, and was updated most recently on 30th of October, with Nautilus version 1:2.24.1-0ubuntu1 ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Nautilus deletes all users directories when unmounting Sandisk Sansa MP3 player in MSC mode https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/291647 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 291647] Re: Nautilus deletes all users directories when unmounting Sandisk Sansa MP3 player in MSC mode
It is reproducible on my system by 1. plug in mp3 player by USB 2. when Nautilus prompts what to do with the device select open folder 3. either delete files on the mounted filesystem or already have a trash folder present 4. right click on the icon for the mp3 player on the desktop and select unmount 5. at the nautilus prompt advising that it needs to empty the trash, select empty garbage bin 6. wait a few minutes while the file operations dialogue says preparing (but just appears to hang) 7. cancel the file operations dialogue 8. Home directory will now not load nor will additional mounted hard drives open 9. logout and back in 10. all config files in home will now have disappeared, appearing as if this is my first login again I am unsure if this is relevant but the trash folder on the mp3 player is called .trash-1000 rather than just .trash for some reason I haven't attempted to reproduce this yet on another system or with other forms of removable storage -- Nautilus deletes all users directories when unmounting Sandisk Sansa MP3 player in MSC mode https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/291647 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 30330] scrollkeeper expects /var/lib/xml-core
Public bug report changed: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/30330 Comment: I just upgraded to Dapper a couple of days ago, and it must have been during the update that scrollkeeper wanted to write two files in the directory (catalog and scrollkeeper). That generated a scrollkeeper error because the directory didn't exist. After a mkdir the problem was solved and it wrote those two files there. I didn't run any command myself, so I don't know exactly which command triggered the error (and I don't know too much about scrollkeeper either). -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
