[Bug 1857328] Re: Thunar closes down when Rename -> Find and replace text. No error message. It just closes.

2020-01-07 Thread Theo Linkspfeifer
Thunar uses different wording, so this is actually a bug in Nautilus.

** Package changed: thunar (Ubuntu) => nautilus (Ubuntu)

** Summary changed:

- Thunar closes down when Rename -> Find and replace text. No error message. It
just closes.
+ Nautilus closes down when Rename -> Find and replace text. No error message.
It just closes.

[Bug 1778069] Re: [xfce] nautilus don't open files if set as default file manager

2018-10-20 Thread Theo Linkspfeifer
You can fix this issue by removing the line "x-scheme-handler/file=exo-
file-manager.desktop" from the following files:

/usr/share/xubuntu/applications/defaults.list (provided by Xubuntu)
~/.config/mimeapps.list (user overrides)
~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list (deprecated)

The entry should not be added anymore according to upstream Xfce [1],
and it is the cause for the misbehavior according to the comments in the
linked Debian report [2].

I assume that the only way to somewhat work around this problem is to

Explicitly installing light-locker will remove xscreensaver from the
list.

It looks like there are quite some oddities.

2018-08-17 Thread Theo Linkspfeifer
xubuntu-desktop depends on lightdm-gtk-greeter, and yet while performing
the test case apt wants to pull in unity-greeter instead (see `apt
depends lightdm`). This will install various indicator- packages plus
gnome-control-center.

Explicitly installing the needed package gives the expected result:

sudo apt install xubuntu-desktop lightdm-gtk-greeter

[Bug 1767711] Re: Nvidia+XFCE: Totem window is see-through during playback, colours washed out

2018-08-13 Thread Theo Linkspfeifer
Looks like the next step would be to test with an older NVIDIA driver
version from the Ubuntu repository, and maybe with the slightly newer
version 390.77 from the NVIDIA website also.

[Bug 1767711] Re: Nvidia+XFCE: Totem window is see-through during playback, colours washed out

2018-08-13 Thread Theo Linkspfeifer
I suggested to test with MATE's compositing window manager "marco" also.
Any results?

Another test case would be to use xfwm4 with disabled compositor plus
"compton" (standalone compositing manager).

[Bug 1767711] Re: Nvidia+XFCE: Totem window is see-through during playback, colours washed out

2018-08-12 Thread Theo Linkspfeifer
What output do you get when opening the Totem player from a terminal
window?

The builtin compositor can be disabled via xfwm4-tweaks-settings, and
that will most likely prevent the issue from occurring. Other than that,
I suggest to test with a different window manager (e.g. "marco
--replace", afterwards "xfwm4 --replace").
