Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gstreamer0.10-plugins-base
There's a one-line decodebin patch you might want to ship with the
ubuntu gutsy package of gstreamer0.10-plugins-base to avoid problems
with the automatic codec installation in certain situations:
Patch is here:
Public bug reported:
This PDF file doesn't render correctly in evince. It does render
correctly in gv though.

Not sure where this bug belongs (libpoppler maybe?), so filing it
against evince for now.
** Affects: evince (Ubuntu)
May you tell us what you're expecting to see in the pdf?
Have you tried the PDF with both 'evince' and 'gv'? Does it render the
same for you?
For one, text on a lot of pages is 'cut off' - e.g. on page 1 evince
only renders 'wh' where the whole line should be 'why mashups suck *'.
A couple
Hrm, sorry about that. I'll investigate (admittedly it was mentioned in
the original bug report, but I assumed it was unrelated).

No, thanks. I can reproduce this (with the gutsy packages). It's a bug
somewhere else, I suspect in the mp3parse plugin in -ugly. It doesn't
happen with gstreamer CVS because of this fix to id3demux in gst-
plugins-good CVS:

I'm running up-to-date edgy and this still does not work for me despite
the patch. lshal does not list any of my two internal SCSI disc drives
(one DVD drive and one CD burner). The kernel

FWIW, the crash in the very first comment is probably due to
gstreamer0.10-pitfdll
(not entirely suprising either, s I personally found pitfdll - at least the
0.10 version, never tried the 0.8 version - highly unstable and I've seen lots
of crack code in there too. I recommend uninstalling

(This is a problem that can't really be solved satisfactorily otherwise
with ID3v1).

This is still an issue after today's round of updates.

Sebastien: yes, I think this can be closed.
However, one might want to file a feature request with rhythmbox that
allows setting this in their preferences dialog somewhere (don't know if
that's been discussed before or not). Same probably goes for muine /
banshee etc.

It's completely separate from #342448.
It's not supposed to work yet AFAIK - for the same reason we don't do
DVD subtitles yet (the dvdsubdec element doesn't work right yet).

Note that it was only really fixed in theory, in practice it still
doesn't work yet (ie. matroskademux can now read the vobsub streams, but
playbin, which is what totem uses, can still not actually show them -
see gnome bugs #350311).
