[Bug 1982560] Re: Mouse lag/stutter (missed frames) in Wayland sessions

2023-06-09 Thread Tomas Mrozek
I tried the latest suggestions of "CLUTTER_PAINT=disable-dynamic-max-
render-time" as well as "MUTTER_DEBUG_ENABLE_ATOMIC_KMS=0..." but
neither of it helped. I had to go back to using Xorg.

[Bug 1871913] Re: super key does not work with secondary keyboard layout

2020-04-25 Thread Tomas Kral
Super key works only for default input layout. When you go to Settings

for first input layout. When you change position of them the bug with
super key switch to second layouts and vice versa.

Possibly could be related to this issue in upstream:

definitely a bug. It crashes your Gnome session in worst case or freezes

[Bug 1591057] [NEW] Restoring a maximized Terminal window doesn't return the Terminal window to original dimensions

2016-06-10 Thread Tomas Cassidy
Public bug reported:

What goes wrong:

When a terminal window is maximized, clicking the "return" button in the
title bar doesn't return the window to the original dimensions.

What should happen:

Clicking the "return" button on a maximized terminal window should
return the window to the original dimensions.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open a Terminal.
2. Click "maximize" buttton in title bar (square button) to maximize the window
to fullscreen.
3. Click the "return" button in title bar (rectangle button) to return the
window to the previous dimensions.

[Bug 1578121] [NEW] UT does not discover bluetooth smart (BLE) devices

2016-05-04 Thread Tomas Öqvist
Public bug reported:

Same as https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-system-
settings/+bug/1576986 but I thought I'd also post it here.

I am actually typing this on a Microsoft Universal Foldable Keyboard
connected to my M10 tablet.

Device: Bq Aquaris M10
OS: OTA-10.1

Generally bluetooth devices that are not version 4 or bluetooth smart
(BLE) seem to work and pair fine with the Aquaris E4.5 and the M10.
However, when it comes to BLE/version 4, things obviously get too
complicated for the system bluetooth settings because it doesn't even
manage to discover these devices.

OTA-10.1 uses Bluez version 5.37, which is perfectly capable of
discovering and pairing with BLE devices, but in Ubuntu Touch it
requires the use of "bluetoothctl" in the terminal. I will describe the
steps needed below:

phablet@ubuntu-phablet:-$ bluetoothctl
[bluetooth]# scan on

wait for device to show up in list, typically:
[NEW] Device 01:02:FF:A8:BB:00 DeviceName

[bluetooth]# discoverable on
Changing discoverable on succeeded
[bluetooth]# agent on
Agent registered
[bluetooth]# default-agent
Default agent request successful
[bluetooth]# pairable on
Changing pairable on succeeded

Now tell bluetoothctl to pair the device
[bluetooth]# pair 01:02:FF:A8:BB:00
Attempting to pair with 01:02:FF:A8:BB:00

If pairing with MS Universal Foldable Keyboard, you will probably see a
6-digit code, punch that code on the keyboard and hit return.

[CHG] Device 01:02:FF:A8:BB:00 Connected: yes
[agent] Passkey: 123456

You should be good to go.

However, the MS Foldable Keyboard does not show up in system bluetooth
settings (see attached screenshot) and getting the M10 to recognize that
the Keyboard is turned off seems to require a reboot (and possibly also
bluetooth turned off). Otherwise, the onscreen keyboard doesn't show up.

[Bug 322271] Re: Sorting by name doesn't work well with digits or special chars

2016-01-06 Thread Tomas Petricek
I simply don't believe this is a design choice:
a a.txt
aa a.txt
a b.txt
k a.txt
k b.txt
kk a.txt

There should be at least an option for the simple alphabetical ordering.
Also, I believe the priority should be higher since listing files is the main
function of a file browser...

I have switched to rtm r1 single-boot and got location working in

indicated that the GPS was involved. But after a reboot, the location no

[Bug 1368647] [NEW] GPS and location detection not working on Nexus 4

2014-09-12 Thread Tomas Öqvist
Public bug reported:

Mako with MultiROM, utopic r239

None of the apps I have tried including Weather, Google maps, OSM Touch
and SensorStatus are able to use the phone's GPS. The SensorStatus app
actually reports Found supported backend, but finds no position or
other GPS data.

Location detection on the other hand is doing something, but it is
really far off when it comes to determining the actual location of the
device. The Weather app suggests my location as Vänsjö, Jämtland, which
is about 400 km north of Stockholm where I am at. OSM Touch reports no
location available and Google maps Your location could not be
determined

I don't know if the GPS has to waken up somehow, but it has not shown
any form of life for me on Ubuntu Touch, even though it works perfectly
fine when booting the phone as Android.

[Bug 1368365] [NEW] Bluetooth pairing not working on all devices

2014-09-11 Thread Tomas Öqvist
Public bug reported:

Nexus 4 with MultiROM, utopic r235

There ar, a few bluetooth devices that still don't work together with
Ubuntu Touch. These devices work perfectly well when booting the phone
as Android. The devices that fails to connect for me are BlueAnt
Supertooth 3 (http://www.myblueant.com/shop/us/products/st3.php#related)
and My Volvo car bluetooth system, both with Bluetooth version 2.0
specifications.

With BlueAnt Ubuntu can discover the unit and attempts to connect,
opening a pairing dialogue with the digits . Confirming the pin
code (which is correct) doesn't do anything, my Ubuntu phone is not
recognized by BlueAnt and won't show as a connected device in the
phone's bluetooth settings, but shows up under Connect other device
followed by ... The bluetooth indicator, however, shows as connected.

With My Volvo Car, pairing works differently. The bluetooth system in
the car searches for devices and shows Nexus 4 and then prompts me to
connect with a 4-digit pin code, but the Ubuntu phone doesn't react at
all and after a while the car system says that it failed to connect.

Oh, adding to that, the indicator remains lit even after turning
BlueAnt off and toggling Bluetooth off/on in the phone settings.

Public bug reported:

I start gnome-panel under UBUNTU 14.04 LTS.
I have 4 desktops. When I click by mouse any desktop on gnome-panel, new
desktop appear but whole
overlay of system goes to background - on small 2x2 panel icon I can see open
apps, but all desktops
where empty.
Also when I click any icon it doesn to anything.
SUPER+S works - I can change desktops, but I didnt see any previous open
application //and cant do nothing in X.
CTRL+ALT+Backspace also doesnt work.

Only way how to solve that problem is go to terminal and restart system.

[Bug 1163107] Re: Wacom calibration results are off (wrong area)

2013-06-20 Thread Tomas
If my configuration is already very wrong, I cannot fix it by calibrating via
the GUI in Wacom Tablet. For example, try setting the area string in dconf
to:
[-9978, -6651, 6336, 4878]

For me, the first calibration claims success but does not set the values to
something reasonable. The string area reads after this calibration:
[2814, 1669, 6824, 5319]
Using the pen to click anywhere the cursor always moves to the bottom left
corner.

If I try to calibrate again I get a Misclick detected error and need
to start over.

Note that manually fixing the settings via the workaround as Josh suggests in
post #5 and I further explain in #6 and then calibrating yields a working area
for me:
[54, 91, 26082, 16359]

[Bug 1163107] Re: Wacom calibration results are off (wrong area)

2013-06-19 Thread Tomas
Hi Josh et al. Testing the calibration before your workaround didn't yield
proper results, it was still way off. After entering a reasonable value in
dconf and recalibrating it indeed seems to calibrate my pen instead of touch,
resulting in a nicely calibrated screen.
Sorry about not realising this earlier. As far as I'm considered this bug is
fixed.

[Bug 1163107] Re: Wacom calibration results are off (wrong area)

2013-06-11 Thread Tomas
Well, that was easy. I indeed can just search for wacom in dconf and change the
area key value. This is of course a much nicer workaround than above, it
still works after rebooting. I only used gconf, with which I couldn't find this
key.
The key is in org gnome settings-daemon peripherals wacom (very long
string).

AFAIK this bug has not been fixed or attempted by anyone else.

Best of luck with fixing this Josh, and thanks for supplying us with a
decent workaround. Please let me know if you need any testing done, I'd
be happy to help!

[Bug 1177987] Re: Clipboard: Copying text on ubuntu and pasting them on windows makes applications crash or behave weird.

2013-05-09 Thread Tomas
I can confirm that the clipboard corruption happens with simply minimizing
vinagre and opening it again.(sometimes)
I'm not sure exactly what causes this, but 100% of the time I copy something on
ubuntu and paste it on the server, it makes my program crash and clibrd act
weird.
Is there any file or logs I could upload to show what happens?

[Bug 1177987] [NEW] Clipboard: Copying text on ubuntu and pasting them on windows makes applications crash or behave weird.

2013-05-08 Thread Tomas
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu ver: 11.0
vinagre ver: 3.2.1-0

Couldn't follow: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.

When I copy something from ubuntu into the clipboard and then I use the
paste function in windows through vinagre, one of my private programs,
crashes. The string is correctly pasted on text editor but when I open
clipbrd.exe, an error message appears telling me I haven't got enough
memory. The cursor intermits between waiting shape and normal shape, and
the window with the error that should be showing the clipboard flashes
as if being opened or closed.

I can easily reproduce it in my computer.

[Bug 1163107] [NEW] Wacom calibration results are off (wrong area)

2013-04-01 Thread Tomas
Public bug reported:

When I try to calibrate the touchscreen on my laptop (HP EliteBook
2760p, Wacom Serial Tablet WACf004) the result gets worse and worse
with every calibration. The area on which the touchscreen is effective
becomes smaller every time to the point where it is completely unusable.

This can be verified with xsetwacom --get 15 area, right now this gives me
-9978 -6651 6336 -4878.
I can reset this by manually setting a new area, e.g. xsetwacom --set 15 area
0 0 25000 16000
However, xsetwacom only works for the current session, after a reboot all
information is lost and the calibration is off again.

What should happen: the area for the touchscreen is improved with calibrating
What happens instead: the area gets smaller for every calibration

I'd be happy to contribute a bit in fixing this bug, but my knowledge is
limited.

Meanwhile, I'd appreciate a workaround: how can I reset the area used
for the touchscreen to the default?

[Bug 1163107] Re: Wacom calibration results are off (wrong area)

2013-04-01 Thread Tomas
Note that xinput_calibrator is a bit more verbose and warns me:

Warning: multiple calibratable devices found, calibrating last one (Serial
Wacom Tablet touch)
use --device to select another one.
Calibrating standard Xorg driver Serial Wacom Tablet touch
current calibration values: min_x=0, max_x=2640 and min_y=0, max_y=1630

With the default settings, it gives me a very wrong result resulting in
a similar area as reported.

By using xinput_calibrator --device 15 I get proper values: -1232
-523 26217 16525.

My best guess is that the Wacom calibration through the control centre
is using the wrong input device.

[Bug 949097] Re: Serial Wacom Tablet touch not in absolute mode when logged in

2012-05-04 Thread Tomas
Hmm, that's odd. The scripts is being executed (after I removed the stuff you
accidentally placed after #!/bin/bash). I tested it by replacing the xsetwacom
part with mkdir /home/tomas/itsworking.
I know little about Linux, but I guess it could be that, for example, (i) the
problem is somewhere in the code that is being executed after your scripts or
(ii) the script is being executed before the Wacom stuff is initialised, i.e.
xsetwacom is not properly recognised.
I'll see if I can come up with a working workaround. Will let you know if I
find something.

[Bug 949097] Re: Serial Wacom Tablet touch not in absolute mode when logged in

2012-05-01 Thread Tomas
About the workaround: I'm running a little bash script when my computer
starts that does just what you cited there (through startup
applications). However, that won't fix the issue when the computer
resumes from suspend: the pointer is still relative.

If you want to fix this on your computer, you might want to look at this post:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1484156
Though the post is a bit old, it should still work (tell me if I'm wrong). In
that post the author explains how to run a script automatically when your
computer resumes from suspend. Combining this with the startup applications
should fix the problem.

[Bug 833397] Re: indicator power displayed twice on panel

2011-10-26 Thread Tomas
I have a suggestion for developers.

Why do you have implemented whitelist functionality in the first
place?

It's not rational.

Having Blacklist funkcionality would be more convient and rational.

Why I am saying this. Think what is easier:

a) browse hours and hours about all posible useful indicators You could
use and then - Whitelist them all. After some time repeat the cycle -
browse again, because new useful applications with new indicators keep
coming or the old ones begin using indicators...

or

b) automatically let all indicators to appear, so you automatically
know, that You new application actually has a usefull indicator. If You
dont't want that indicator - You disable it in the settings of
application. If You meet an annoying indicator - You Blacklist it.

In my case, after Whitelisting all, I discovered that tasque to do list
application actually has an indicator and that makes my life easier (and 2 powr
indicators that annoys me).

I'd rather blacklist only one indicator - one of the two power
indicators, than whitelisting every single application with an indicator
(and trying to discover what else could have an usefull indicator).

[Bug 863137] [NEW] Desktop appears to be displaced after login

2011-09-30 Thread Tomas
Public bug reported:

After:
* freshly installing Ubuntu 11.10 Beta 2
* removing (only games, nothing relevant I believe) and
* installing some packages (current NVIDIA proprietary drivers for my 8600M GT,
otherwise nothing relevant)
* updating packages (around 400 (!))
* rebooting
the desktop seems to be displaced (see attached screenshot).

Stange enough the rest of the applications I'm running is fully
functional, i.e. I am reporting this bug in a perfectly normal full-
screen Firefox.

I recall that in Ubuntu 11.04 stable I would sometimes get a similar
issue after connecting an external monitor, but that could be fixed by
changing any of the settings in nvidia-config and reapplying. That
doesn't seem to work for this problem, however.

What I've tried so far is to reinstall the NVIDIA drivers, but this
didn't help.

I've been able to fix the problem temporarily after logging in by
killing nautilus and restarting it (pkill nautilus; nautilus ). It then
works until the next boot.

I'm new to the whole bug-filing thing, so please let me know if you need
anything else.

[Bug 841228] [NEW] no consigo nada para ubuntu 9.04

2011-09-04 Thread jose tomas
Public bug reported:

This is an issue that was happening under a fresh Ubuntu 8.10 install,
and it has continued to happen since a recent upgrade to 9.04. I'm
opening this bug to help diagnose this issue and possibly develop both a
workaround and a fix.

The machine in question is an eMachines T2824, and I'm using the built-
in graphics system that's part of the motherboard. 'lspci' reports it is
an Intel Corporation 8245G/GL[Brookdale-G]/GE Chipset Integrated
Graphics Device (rev 01), with subsystem Intel Corporation Device
5352.

The problem that I am seeing is that, on a fair percentage of boots
(around 40-50%), the machine appears to hang with a black screen
immediately after the splash screen progress bar fills up. This happens
before the background color is changed, the mouse cursor appears, or gdm
comes up. The machine appears completely unresponsive at this point, and
I cannot access alternate terminals via CTRL-ALT-# as might be expected.

In order to help diagnose the problem, I have set up ssh-server so that
I can remotely log into the machine while it is hung. Remote login
works perfectly normally when the screen is black, and inspecting the
output of 'ps aux' shows two instances of /usr/sbin/gdm being executed.

Attempts to restart gdm with 'sudo /etc/init.d/gdm restart' do not work. At
least one instance of gdm seems to be unresponsive to commands:
 - 'sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop'
 - 'sudo kill PID of instance'
 - 'sudo kill -9 PID of instance'

In addition, remotely executing 'sudo shutdown -r now' fails to shut
down the machine, and it must be powered off completely to try to
restart.

Some items to note:

1) The hang seemed to be avoided every time I accessed the GRUB menu and
overrode the 'quiet' and 'splash' options from the default boot menu
entry, then booted. However, making the change permanent by adjusting
/boot/grub/menu.lst has still resulted in at least one hang on a cold
start.

2) The hang also seemed to be avoided every time I accessed an alternate
terminal during the splash screen. In these cases, the display switches
to gdm when it is initialized, as would be expected.

3) I'm not positive that gdm is the ultimate culprit here, but I am
filing this bug against gdm because that is the program that appears
unresponsive.

4) This issue is not limited to cold boots. I have seen the same thing
happen on warm restarts as well, and can be reliably reproduced by
executing 'sudo /etc/init.d/gdm restart' a few times successively.

I'm not an expert, but I can certainly follow directions to gather more
information about this problem. Please let me know what additional
information you would like to help diagnose this issue.

[Bug 581023] [NEW] Rhythmbox becomes irresponsive when playing stream andconnection is lost

2010-05-15 Thread Tomas Binek
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Distribution: Ubuntu 10.04
Package version: 0.12.8-ubuntu4

This bug looks very similar to Bug #85051
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/85051).
But bug #85051 is marked as Fix Released.

The problem:
Rhythmbox becomes irresponsive when playing stream and internet connection
fails.

How to reproduce:
- Open Rhythmbox
- Start playing a stream (for example mms://netshow3.play.cz/impuls64)
- Disable internet connection. I disabled wireless.
( - The connection dies, rhythmbox plays the content of the buffer)
- Wait until the buffer is empty.
- Now
  - If you try to start another stream, nothing happens
  - If you push the Play button, Rhythmbox freezes

Expected result:
 - Rhythmbox stops playing and maybe displays an error message.
 - Then it is ready for next actions

Actual result:
 - Rhythmbox does nothing or freezes. (Does not even redraw it's window)

You have to kill rhythmbox by hand to close it, then start another one.

[Bug 425411] Re: Computer suspends immediately after resuming if power is unplugged while suspended

2010-02-05 Thread Tomas Pospisek
I am confirmin that after reverting the configuration change from

  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/devicekit-
power/+bug/425411/comments/47

upgrading to:

linux-image-generic 2.6.31.19.32
devicekit-power 011-1ubuntu2
gnome-power-manager 2.28.1-0ubuntu1.3

and rebooting, suspending and waking up is working as it should. I.e.:

1) I close the lid while AC is plugged in - the laptop suspends correctly
2) while suspended I unplug AC
3) I open the lid - the laptop wakes up
4) and that's it, no more re-suspending, the laptop stays up awake

(HP Compaq 6710b here)

Thanks to Chow Loong Jin and Marin Pitt fixing and trackingall this

  (gnome-screen-saver) by itself?

- why isn't there any feedback about why nothing happens when I tell the
computer to do some action (lock the screen) and it doesn't do it?

- why is it necessary to occupy virtual memory and CPU cycles with a programm
(gnome-screensaver), when the programm doesn't do anything useful during
its life? Locking the screen is an active action from the user and thus
gnome-screensaver can be startet and stoped when it is not needed?

- why does it have an effect to click on the lock icon but not any effect to
click on the shutdown icon and choose Lock Screen?

** Changed in: gnome-screensaver (Ubuntu)
   Status: Invalid = New

** Summary changed:

- lock doesn't lock
+ lock doesn't lock when gnome-screensaver not running in the background

2010-01-19 Thread Tomas Pospisek
(If I knew how, I'd set this bug to Wishlist/Feature Request)

[Bug 509411] Re: lock doesn't lock when gnome-screensaver not running in the background

2010-01-19 Thread Tomas Pospisek
See Chris' comment #6 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/509411/comments/6).
The stated problems seem to be mainly a problem of indicator-session.

Could this bug be transformed into a Wishlist/Feature Request?

** Package changed: gnome-screensaver (Ubuntu) = indicator-session
(Ubuntu)
