Thanks for the help, man! I got it working on an Acer Aspire 5920 by
installing libv4l form Löic's PPA (kernel 2.6.27-11-generic)! BTW, it's not
related to bugs #303215 and #297890. Now I can finally rest in peace (my
friend wanted to kill me because cheese was working perfectly before
Evan, are you using a fresh install of intrepid or did you upgrade from
hardy? I'm just brainstorming here, but I've personally seen this happen on
three computers, and the only one that started working after a kernel update
was the one that had 8.10 installed from a formatted disk.

If you enter the expression 5+6/2, the result *is* supposed to be 8,
because divisions and multiplications come before sums and subtractions
on expressions. So the calculator is first making 6/2 = 3 and then
addind that to 5. If you want to force ir to make the sum first, you
should enter it

I just tried to reproduce it with a randomly-generated Lorem Ipsum text
with 99 lines and another random Lorem Ipsum paragraph to copy from
firefox directly into gedit and it saved correctly, no questions asked.

Correcting spelling deletes old text
I've managed to reproduce this by coping files from the examples folder
into the desktop and rearranging them randomly. I'm attaching an
animated gift showing the bug.

that the version you have there? It doesn't look that much confusing to
me, but maybe it's just because I'm used to it: nautilus reads File
Browser on title, evince reads Document Viewer... I think this is
just the way Ubuntu
