[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.

2023-03-03 Thread Yuri Gor
Fresh 22.04, at first gnome tweaks helped, but then I changed
Settings / Keyboard / Switch input source individually for each window
And now even gnome tweaks doesn't work anymore.
Changing back to "Use the same source for all windows" also doesn't help.

[Bug 1897464] [NEW] Problmes with disk size with zfs

2020-09-27 Thread Yuri Weinstein
Public bug reported:

I created a VM that has 64GB of hard drive space and I used zfs during
install.

Now here is what I see via desktop GUI:
Disks => 69 GB
Computer => 23.6 GB

Two pools:
zpool list
NAMESIZE ALLOC FREE CKPOINT EXPANDSZ FRAGCAP DEDUPHEALTH
ALTROOT
bpool 1.88G 427M 1.46G- - 0%22% 1.00xONLINE -
rpool59G 38.7G 20.3G- -36%65% 1.00xONLINE -

As a result I run out of space.

So I am confused, why is my disk size only 23.6 GB ?

Definitely seems like a bug in how Computer shows the disk size.

But as you see on screenshot
- there is a time in the date field
- and there is a parts of date (day of week or day and month) in time field
do you think it's as designed?

[Bug 1885379] [NEW] Wrong date and time format in Modified and Modified-Time columns

2020-06-27 Thread Yuri Gor
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 20.04
nautilus:
  Installed: 1:3.36.3-0ubuntu1

For any chosen system formats I always see in the "Files" pretty random values
in "Modified"and "Nodiefied - time" columns. Sometimes it's time in both
columns, sometimes there is day of week in modified and day of week + time in
"modified - time"

I expect fulll date in Modified and full time with seconds in "Modified
- time" columns

I see hat you mean!
But I really need it for 3 monitors.
If it monitors in side-by-side it works fine, if vertically - seems like a bug.

Pls consider fixing.

Any settings that can ease the pain ?

[Bug 1773502] Re: High CPU usage in gnome-shell & Xorg when using Firefox

2018-05-26 Thread Yuri
I restarted my computer 3 time.I launched FF and the top command. The home page
of FF is https://www.bing.com/?cc=be. I opened a second tab with
maps.google.com. Everything was find. I lauched system monitor and then, the
CPU of one core jumped to 100 %, even after closing the maps.google.com tab
(see screenshot).
When I'm in system monitor, the tab Ressources take 100 % of 1 CPU. If I switch
to the tab Processes and change the ordering of the list, it goes down. When I
come back to the Ressources tab, it reaches again the top. Same thing if I go
from the Ressources view to the File System tab and back to the Resources tab
(see screenshot from 11:50 AM).

[Bug 1694076] [NEW] No error message on firmware update fail

2017-05-27 Thread Yuri Astrakhan
Public bug reported:

While on battery, i tried to install bios firmware from Ubuntu Software.
Clicking "install" in the update tab grayed it out for a second, and
then restored back to being clickable. I tried it several times without
any failure notifications, but it was clearly not doing anything.
Rebooting several times also didn't help. Finally, in the system log, I
noticed this error, explaining the issue. This error should have been
shown to me in UI, without the need to go into the logs.

In fact, the application that is used in Ubuntu is called unity-

The corresponding catalog is on the end of the 14.04 catalog list, so
the message that was mentioned is not translated into Dutch:

The Menu key is still not working as a layout switch (I'm using the
Menu keys for this purpose for more than 15 years both in console and

The Menu key is accepted by the 'Text Entry Settings' dialog and
displayed there as Next Group key, but does not work as a layout
switch.

[Bug 1044760] [NEW] Can't join to some jabber conferences

2012-09-01 Thread Yuri Krivopalov
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 12.04.1 x86. Empathy can not join to any conference at
conference.jabber.ru.

Here situation
1. I have jabber account at jabber.ru
2. I open Join to room dialog and enter group name and conference server
address (The list of rooms fetching normally)
3. I press Join - dialog closes and nothing happened
4. Below few minutes opens chat window with notification that room under
password protection (in really room without password)
5. When I enter any password window controls disabled and it goes to infinity
wait

Its possible that this is caused by Captcha, thats used at this
conference (XEP-0158 as i found).

At this time Empathy works fine with conference.jabber.org
Gajim works with conference.jabber.ru (captcha supported and shows at chat
window)
Pidgin works with conference.jabber.ru (captch unsopported and shows at browser)

Some situation with Empathy at Debian Squeeze, may be report this bug at
gnome.org?

[Bug 432814] Re: Touchpad: Action for middle and right click is reversed since jaunty

2011-05-05 Thread Yuri Khan
There must have been a misunderstanding here. I’m not going to support
my patches on GNOME 3. In fact, they are not needed there, as there is
the hook framework.

When time allows, I will update my PPA for Natty, but only because Natty
was released with GNOME 2. (And I understand them — GNOME 3 is horrible
at the moment.)

[Bug 432814] Re: Touchpad: Action for middle and right click is reversed since jaunty

2011-03-22 Thread Yuri Khan
In GNOME, they decided that it is more appropriate to provide a hook
that will run a user-customizable script when an input device is added
or removed. The xinput or synclient invocations shown above can be added
to this hook. So, for all intents and purposes, this bug can be
considered “Fix Committed”.

[Bug 602175] Re: glib-compile-schemas trigger not run after installation GCalctool

2010-09-04 Thread Yuri Khan
For me, the workaround command fails with:

No such schema `org.gnome.Empathy.conversation' specified in override
file `/usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/ubuntu-artwork.gschema.override'

This is probably because I had uninstalled empathy before. After
reinstalling empathy, `sudo glib-compile-schemas
/usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas1` finishes successfully and gcalctool no
longer crashes on startup.

When I remove empathy again, the trigger runs and fails with the same
message.

I suppose removing adium-theme-ubuntu would fix this but it is a hard
dependency of ubuntu-artwork which is a hard dependency of ubuntu-
desktop, which is also used to help proper upgrades, so it is
recommended that it not be removed (from package description).

[Bug 432814] Re: Touchpad: Action for middle and right click is reversed since jaunty

2010-08-23 Thread Yuri Khan
I’m afraid not, as whenever I happen to have enough free time to work on
this patch, both GNOME and Ubuntu turn out to be in feature freeze, and
extended configurability counts as a feature.

However, I will produce PPA builds for Maverick as soon as I get around
to installing the alpha and will maintain them; also, as soon as GNOME
unfreezes (which should be late September) I will attempt to get this
accepted upstream.

The patch above is a little dated and will not apply cleanly to gnome-

patches are:

[Bug 563276] Re: No way to tweak multi-finger tap reaction

2010-04-14 Thread Yuri Khan
In this patch:
 * Add gconf settings for one-finger, two-finger and three-finger taps.
 * Add code to read and apply these settings.
 * Additionally, the effect of X device button mapping on the tap mapping is
considered. (Original code does not do this, causing incorrect behavior if the
user changes the button mapping other than by selecting “left-handed”
configuration.)

[Bug 563276] Re: No way to tweak multi-finger tap reaction

2010-04-14 Thread Yuri Khan
Sorry, mixed up the order. This one is the first in series. The
description above applies to this patch. The correct description for the
patch above, which is second in series:

 * Add gconf settings for corner taps (left top, left bottom, right top, right
bottom).
 * Use the same logic as in the first patch to reverse the effect of X device
button mapping.

[Bug 563276] Re: No way to tweak multi-finger tap reaction

2010-04-14 Thread Yuri Khan
This patch was added just yesterday, following suit with Alberto Milone who
changed the defaults. This also changes defaults to what they were in Jaunty:
* 1 finger for left button
* 2 fingers for middle button
* 3 fingers for right button

[Bug 432814] Re: Action for middle and right click is reversed since jaunty

No dice. The current package from Ubuntu is newer than the one in the PPA

I try to keep up and update my packages when a new version is released.

(Is there a way to receive an email notification when a new version of a
certain package is released?)

Uploaded an update; builds will be ready in a few minutes.

I don't know what I'll do when Lucid is officially released if this is
still broken

I haven't had any need (other than my own screw-ups) to update the PPA
packages for Karmic, since no new versions appear in the official
repository. I imagine this will also be the case with Lucid when it goes
stable.

2010-03-22 Thread Yuri Khan
I have added another patch that adds gconf settings for corner taps.
Available in my PPA for Lucid only.

As for changing defaults, I don’t really have a strong opinion. When
there is configuration options, who needs defaults? :)

Perhaps the defaults for those keys could be changed to give the Jaunty
 behaviour back?

And then users who started using Ubuntu during the Karmic era will file
a bug that Lucid changed the defaults and broke their habits, just as we
are blaming Karmic here.

This is only a Debian/Ubuntu patch that causes so much trouble?

No, what causes the trouble is upstream development in GNOME.

===
In fact, I am not fully content with my patch, for two reasons.

First and foremost, the Synaptics tap-to-button mapping is only updated
whenever gconf settings change for button assignments, the master tap-
to-click on/off switch, or the left/right-handed switch. The right thing
to do would be to watch for every DeviceMappingNotify on every input
device, so that if the user remaps buttons via e.g. xinput, taps
continue working without the user having to go disable/re-enable them. I
have not yet managed to get that working, and that is going to be a
large change that is better off in the next development phase.

Second, Ubuntu includes corner taps in the definition of tap-to-click,
as opposed to GNOME who don’t. This means that in Ubuntu the corner-to-
button mapping needs similar treatment — for device button mapping and
for customization. I will do an update as time allows.
