Sorry for the extra comment but I forgot to mention this in the
description. I was able to work around this by having brasero create an
image file, and the burn the image file to the disk.

create audio CD. It should open Brasero and make a CD but nothing

If it is relevant, it tries to play the file but it only makes
screeching or static type noises.

Rhythmbox developer says it works for him, perhaps it is a bug specific
to the gstreamer packages in the repositories and not the fault of
rhythmbox?
If i remember correctly VLC does not use gstreamer it has its own
codecs, so this could be a possibility.

I can confirm this bug in 9.10 beta, all extra keys do not work (volue,
calculator, ect) while in a drop down menu.
