Sorry for late answer.
The bug is corrected by now so I can't reproduce it.
However, I am running a video card: ati 4850hd and that is a r7xx chip
I think (I use free radeonhd driver).
I could launch awesome (window manager), then kill x and start gnome
and it was ok.
I just could not launch gnome

Alt+Shift+number shortcuts usually allow to switch to corresponding tab
in gnome apps but this isn't support by gnome-system-monitor.

Add Alt+Shift+number to switch
Ok for not changing the bug status.
For other gnome apps that support Alt+Shift+Num to switch tabs I can think of:
- nautilus
- gnome-terminal
- gedit
- firefox
- empathy (not sure)

Yes, I'm well aware of this and Ctrl+k should be kept as the default
shortcut.
However, imo, pressing the del key is more intuitive and both shortcuts
could be handled (since del does not seem assigned to any shortcut).
Plus, del shortcut to kill a process is used in windows' task manager so
Yes, my bad. That's because I use a french keyboard where you must hold shift
to access numbers.
But it does not change the fact that alt+number shortcuts do not work in
gnome-system-monitor.

I use emacs in a server/client mode and when I try to shutdown or

I don't think so since this is something I do quite often and I've been
using oneiric for a few months but I can't say for sure.

Hi, running
$ locate gstreamer | grep /usr/lib
results in:
287:/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gstreamer-0.10/libgsty4menc.so
288:/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gstreamer-0.10/libgstzbar.so

290:/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gstreamer-1.0/libgst1394.so
I'm quite sure this as nothing to do with gstreamer. Sorry for that if my
previous post was not clear enough.
I didn't manage to get apport-retrace working (apport did not log anything
usefull in /var/crash) but here is a backtrace anyway:
#0 _IO_vfprintf_internal (s=0x7f7ff620,
Ok, after further investigation, the problem comes from my (external)
sound card, an EMU Tracker Pre. The crash happens when selecting this
device as input device in the sound applet.
Here is the stacktrace:
(gdb) run sound
Starting program: /tmp/tmpVSBtz1/usr/bin/gnome-control-center sound
By the way, this issue may unrelated to the original one since there's
no reference to gvc_mixer_control_lookup_device_from_stream but if
I had to guess, the first crash happened when looking for my emu tracker
pre as a device when running the sound applet ...
