I have the major problem with this bug too. It is very disturbing since
gedit is default text editor. I believe there is many people affected by
this bug.

Confirming here with slight difference: firefox moves to actual desktop

I've changed default editor but I believe you have to
change line in ~/.local/share/applications/defaults.list to

I apologize if it's too early in the development process but just to report
that I tried a daily-build of Lucid from cdimage.ubuntu.com and it does the
same thing as Karmic with my integrated HD3200. Just before showing the desktop
(or what would have been the login screen if installed on the

restarting my desktop with integrated HD3200 any more. I am able to run

@Aaron, I also have HD3200. If you still have the problem with Karmic

That resolved my problem. My post is towards the end, one of the latest
ones.

if this font doesn't show up correctly, it's a problem in the font (or pango),
