[Bug 554023] Re: gdm fails to start
Attached is the Xorg.0.log from the broken system. I don't have a working system. Let me burn a LiveCD from say the Beta 1 release, load that and give you that file, ** Attachment added: Xorg.0.log http://launchpadlibrarian.net/43282543/Xorg.0.log -- gdm fails to start https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/554023 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 554023] [NEW] gdm fails to start
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gdm using the LiveCD of Wednesday 3/31/2010, Thursday's or Friday's, the machine does not display anything. The screen goes blank/black. Similar, if machine that was working, is updated with the lastest and greatest packages. The grub menu comes up, then monitor goes blank/black. In the latter case, I can still ssh to the machine. [Bug 524860] Re: starts eating cpu when trying to unlock screen
I've had this problem on 3 different machines with 3 different users on 64-bit LucidLynx. I have built out these machines within the last 2 weeks. All 3 have ActiveDirectory logins (leveraging likewise-open). We do not use auto logins. They had noticed that their screen was locked, entered a password, and have waited over 30 minutes. ssh-ing in, and running top, we see that the gnome keyring-d is at 99%. If we kill that process, then the terminal lock screen seems to refresh itself, and now a password will unlock the screen immediately, as it should. I have 2 other machines that I personally use at work, they were built out with LucidLynx long before the 3 mentioned in the above(one in december, one in january), and I never had a problem as described. I'm willing to try to narrow this down, but I would have to have one of those 3 developers assist me and that may be unlikely. -- starts eating cpu when trying to unlock screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/524860 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-keyring in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 495304] Re: [Lucid] Fails to prompt for password when user list is disabled (non face-browser mode)
I have a similar problem:[lucid] My GDM is in its default state.(i have not changed it like the above user had done) I can log in with a local account (one of the two that is suggests), but when I click other and log in with an ActiveDirectory username, ( DOMAIN\first.last), I do not get prompted for a password. The screen may go black then bring up the defaul login screen again, with 2 local accounts as suggestions for usernames. I can log into the machine via ssh from another machine using the same DOMAIN\first.last account proving that the Likewise-Open software is installed and running correctly. I do have this in /var/log/auth.log Dec 29 12:49:18 bee15 gdm-session-worker[2718]: pam_unix(gdm:auth): conversation failed Dec 29 12:49:18 bee15 gdm-session-worker[2718]: pam_unix(gdm:auth): auth could not identify password for [DOMAIN\first.last] -- [Lucid] Fails to prompt for password when user list is disabled (non face-browser mode) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/495304 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
