Although I did always have trouble (since approximately Jaunty!) with
operating menus with the stylus or the mouse, the problem with failure
in the actual painting canvas is brand new in Maverick.

The problem is not Iphone/Ipod specific. The problem is with a bunch of
different media hardware, no one has yet made the connection with all
this different media. Some people have problems with inserted DVD's,
others with certain USB devices. (cameras, Ipods, ect.)

-- ie going back to gnome removes the problem.
When you look at the output from xinput it seems (and I'm not
experienced here) that the driver is generating the right combination of
ups and downs.

sometimes the system uses 11GB of 16GB ram for 10+ gnome-shell processes.
It seemingly occurs as soon as deleting files via the file manager. It occurred
for me when trying to delete 500 files with a total of 700mb but also when just
deleting 200 files totaling around 75mb.
