for me the problem was indeed the xorg.conf file. I'm running ubuntu
through VMware on windows XP. in terminal I typed the following:
sudo nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf
I entered the password and then I scrolled down in xorg.conf until I
found the resolution that I didn't like: 1920 x 1440. I

I have found a bug in glchess but i do not know if it is about python, gtk, or
gnuchess (engine for the game of chess) or glchess (gnomegame).
j'ai trouvé un bug sur glchess mais ne sait pas s'il s'agit du moteur gnuchess
ou de la programation ou de glchess.
maybe it is about an easter egg or a joke from a developper ... i do not
know if they are playing chess ...
