i was downloading with gnome bittorrent client. its quite possible that
there where lots of 5 second gaps with no new packets arriving. or is it
possible that the gnome bt client caches the data, rather than streaming
straight to disk?

in future please only put one problem in a bug report.
this bug can track the first issue. the second issue is probably the gksu bug,
Bug #31487 or just the focus stealing prevention feature. and the post above
give a work around for the third.
i am unable to reproduce it in dapper. what
i have seen this, i had the examples/oo-introducing-ubuntu.odt in my
recent docs, and it would not open, same error message. but other oo
docs would. i cleared the recent docs, and it it seems to work ok.

adding contextual menu item seems like a work around. the item should
not show up on all files. if this is done at a deeper level it could be
done better. for example you don't need to be super user to open a
system config file, so you should only be asked for them when you try to

you can use the gimp's file - aquire - screen shot, and put a delay
in.
the problem also happens with trying to change the sound volume and
other short cuts while a menu is down.
i am sure i have seen this bug before, but i cant find it.

you can't move them sideways by dragging the title bar. minimising and
maximising seems to fix this.

i spotted this in the gnome-session 2.19.2-0ubunut1 change log
