When giving a presentation, keyboard navigation is critical (menu and toolbar

I am using unity.
I don't know what specific program is responsible for turning the screen off.
`ps` seems to indicate that `gnome-screensaver` is not running, although the
package is installed.
I just uninstalled the package and the behavior did not change.
I guess this is a bug in unity then.
I still observe this on 15.10

Public bug reported:
precisely as in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-
screensaver/+bug/1292041:
Ctrl-Alt-L locks the screen but it is never turned off.
Also, after the default delay (5 min) the screen is locked but not turned off.
ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 15.10
Public bug reported:
Alt-Space invokes the window manager menu with the usual entries
(maximize/minimize/move/resize ).
Alas, I have to select the menu item using arrows and Enter - there is no "hot
keys" like "m" for minimize like it was with unity.
ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu
additionally, C-1 and C-n in simple-scan do nothing (they worked in
17.04 with unity but not in 17.10 and 18.04 with gnome)

When I try `Ubuntu on Wayland`, the behavior is, indeed, different.
After disconnecting HDMI, the system never suspends (so I cannot reproduce the
problematic behavior), even when I close the lid.
However, `tmux` hangs and loadavg stays at 1.
After I `kill -9` tmux and force suspend using the
I don't use Wayland.
