It changes continuously vary rapidly (e.g. I see gxneur country flags changing very rapidly). At the same time the process gnome_settings_daemon is shown in system monitor to use more and more memory (I saw up to 800-900 mb). It doesn't stop without killing the gnome-settings-daemon. --
