Nothing to do with google for me. I am using plain old gnome calendar, straight out of the box, albeit with an extra country configured. For me, it seems it takes forever (5 seconds) to load and show. But this is only the first one or two times I click it. Subsequent times it is fast again.

Agree. Well. To me, the importance of this bug has nothing to do with the normal user. The normal user, to me, has already decided to use Ubuntu, and despite the occasional problem, such as this one, Ubuntu far surpasses the usefulness of the alternatives, with the exception of maybe macOS.

Did NOT make any difference for me. I tried several combinations. And to start with, there was no matching entry for my vendor or product. I had to add them myself to test this potential fix. Seems like there are several causes for the same symptoms, as this has helped some people but not others.
