[Bug 1898600] [NEW] Noto Color Emoji not consistently used
Public bug reported: It is great to see that Emojis are shown in Ubuntu 20.04 in most apps. But it is not consistent which emoji foint is shown. I had to delete other emoji fonts than the Noto Color Emoji package to have Noto be shown in Wire Messenger and Evolution. But with only Noto installed it seems that certain applications still don't show emojis with Noto. How could this be fixed? At the end of this Ask-Ubuntu-answer (https://askubuntu.com/a/1045916/30631) there was a tip to create a ~/.config/fontconfig/conf.d/01-emoji.conf file and this helped to get Thunderbird show the Noto emojis in the new email window but when I look at a sent emails the emojis are only black & white. Could this tool help: emoji.conf · GitLab — https://gitlab.com/es20490446e/emoji.conf ? [Bug 1777240] Re: Pop-up window from panel indicator qbirthday too much to the left, not fully visible
Thank you, Daniel, for your helpful comments. As once every other week, the window opens with one click and mostly visible (just a bit too much to the right), I thought it is more related to the gnome-shell or any other component of the system as to the app itself. The app is always started with the start-up of the computer. Any other window so far is not displayed outside of the visible screen as far as I remember. Yes, I can move the window after pressing Alt+F7 with clicking on it and dragging it to the center. Your last question was the best! :) The window is indeed taller than the screen! I could reduce the list length (reduce the displayed birthdays in the preferences; why did I not try this before!?) so it would not be taller anymore and wow! the window is placed within the screen although to the far left but fully visible! Wonderful, this solves my problem I hope. But I wonder why the window is not shown when it is taller - this was never a problem in the past (e.g. Unity) and why there are rare times the window is shown mostly visible (although to the right). Maybe we will never know but I hope the reduction of the window height will be a permanent workaround! [Bug 1295670] Re: Nautilus doesn't save items view
@qu9542 Thanks for the comment, I desperately hope for a solution, otherwise I will have to change to another file browser. Not sure if this works for me as the default-folder-viewer is already set to list-view, but it does not save the items view per folder. Does it save the items view (icon or list) in your nautilus? On my system it only shows the list view by default, but would not save the last view per folder. I don't want to have it always in the list view, some folders, e.g. pictures are nicer to view in the icon view. And when I switch from a picture folder to another folder in the same tab, I would like to have the list view for other folders, not the persisting icon view. I am also with Ubuntu 11.10, but there is no pop-up window. It would be good to have a pop-up window (and a possibility to stop it in the preferences for the people that do not like it.) Indicator-icon should change when there is a notification or should disappear when there is none. [Bug 907198] [NEW] rhythmbox hangs, freezes after launch, start, it takes long till ready to play
Public bug reported: After launching rhythmbox 2.90.1 in Ubuntu 11.10 (AMD64) it would show the rhythmbox screen, but it freezes for more than 10 minutes, so the loading till you can play a song takes a long time. The CPU usage goes up sharply and drops after the freeze is over. If the database is empty the starting of Ubuntu takes only seconds, but I have about 5000 titles in the database, so it takes more than 10 minutes. I had no problem in Ubuntu 10.10 (i386), rhythmbox started quickly and had no problems with the 5000 songs. When I start rhythmbox in the terminal with rhythmbox -d, I get the output* I have attached. I think the hanging/freezing comes from the repetitive similar line, probably 5000 times : (13:19:12) [0xd5e200] [rhythmdb_process_stat_event] rhythmdb.c:2143: not modified: file:///home/cds/Music/Christian%20Music%20English/N-P/Newsboys/Shine%20the%20Hits/Newsboys%20-%20Reality.mp3 (13:19:12) [0xd5e200] [rhythmdb_process_one_event] rhythmdb.c:2504: processing RHYTHMDB_EVENT_STAT (13:19:12) [0xd5e200] [rhythmdb_process_stat_event] rhythmdb.c:2143: not modified: file:///home/cds/Music/Christian%20Music%20English/N-P/Newsboys/Shine%20the%20Hits/Newsboys%20-%20Spirit%20Thing.mp3 (13:19:12) [0xd5e200] [rhythmdb_process_one_event] rhythmdb.c:2504: processing RHYTHMDB_EVENT_STAT (13:19:12) [0xd5e200] [rhythmdb_process_stat_event] rhythmdb.c:2143: not modified: file:///home/cds/Music/Christian%20Music%20English/N-P/Newsboys/Shine%20the%20Hits/Newsboys%20-%20God%20Is%20Not%20A%20Secret.mp3 (13:19:12) [0xd5e200] [rhythmdb_process_one_event] rhythmdb.c:2504: processing RHYTHMDB_EVENT_STAT (13:19:12) [0xd5e200] [rhythmdb_process_stat_event] rhythmdb.c:2143: not modified: file:///home/cds/Music/Christian%20Music%20English/N-P/Newsboys/Shine%20the%20Hits/Newsboys%20-%20Joy.mp3 Not sure why it does this, but perhaps somebody can help. Hi Raymond! Thanks a lot for your search and workaround. It helps partially. The calendar still crashes The Evolution memo has quit unexpectedly./The Evolution task has quit unexpectedly. when I start evolution and switch the first time to the calendar and The Evolution CALENDAR has quit unexpectedly. when I click on the clock-applet in the panel and look at the calendar there. But I can restart with un-click/click the personal-calendar in evolution. I checked the journal.ics, is saved as UTF-8 (Windows). My actual task.ics could not be opened with gedit, but as I switched the encoding to ISO-8859-15, it could be opened. Then I saved it as UTF-8 (Windows) as well. AND it seems to work now without any errors at the moment. We will see how it is tomorrow ;-). Why did this encoding problem happen? By the way, did you save the calendar.ics as UTF-8 with line ending Unix/Linux or Windows (or Mac OS Classic)? What is the difference anyway? Some more information, hopefully it helps to sort out this problem. I can still look at the calendar although there are no events visible. If I would un-click the Birthdays and Anniversaires (under Contacts) and click it on again, it would show me these events. But if I would go to Personal (under on this computer), I can't see any of the normal events and if I try to add a new event or un-click/click Personal, the calendar would crash (although evolution itself would still run) and the birthdays and anniversaires events would disappear again: The Evolution calendar has quit unexpectedly. Time flies by, but no activity on this bug. Any tips? I would like to finally move from Windows to Ubuntu and the last piece would be the transfer of the addresses and the calendar, but it still doesn't work with the special character and Umlauts. Interestingly the import of the outlook csv-file into Evolution (2.28.3) has not problems with the special characters and Umlaut, but there are other issues (e.g. not matching of a lot fields), so I prefer the import of the pst-file. -- Umlaut/Special caracters not imported - .pst-file import (calender, contacts) from outlook XP (German) to Evolution 2.26 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/491786 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Dear Pedro, Thanks for looking into this. Which file would you open with gedit? I don't import the vcf-card I attached here. I import the addressbook/calender from a pst-file. I can't open the original pst-file or the evolution addressbook.db with gedit. And even if I can open it, it would be a tremendous work to change hundreds or thousands of special character as all the characters are replaced by only one character (find and replace won't work). And again: Which file do you mean with that's a problem with the file itself?
