[Bug 228189] [NEW] Evince is not displaying text in some PDF's

2008-05-08 Thread yaztromo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

Using hardy, all updated.

Some suppliers send me invoices in PDF form. They always opened ok in
Acrobat on Vista. Evince on Hardy seems to be struggling. Command line
output from evince shows:

Error: Couldn't find a font for '(unnamed)'
some font thing failed
Error: Couldn't find a font for '(unnamed)'
some font thing failed
Error: Couldn't find a font for '(unnamed)'
some font thing failed
Error: Couldn't find a font for '(unnamed)'
some font thing failed
Error: Couldn't find a font for '(unnamed)'
some font thing failed

The PDF displays blank with only the company logo showing.

I tried installing msttcorefonts but it does not help.

[Bug 229899] [NEW] Printing landscape in some applications is broken

2008-05-13 Thread yaztromo
Public bug reported:

I don't know whether this is cups or libgnomeprint but I'd be willing to
guess the latter.

I found this bug in both epiphany-browser and firefox 3b5 which seem to
use the same print dialog. Gedit which uses the same dialog isn't
affected.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Choose page setup
2. Choose landscape
3. Now print to any printer (including PDF)
4. Page prints in portrait but with landscape formatting.and truncated output.

Attached PDF print from firefox shows problem.

It's only reproducible for me with compiz enabled in gutsy with metabox
borders. Without compiz getting the diagonal resize handle is easy. With
compiz it's very difficult for any application not just gnome-terminal.

[Bug 179330] Resizing gnome-terminal windown near impossible with metabox and compiz

2007-12-29 Thread yaztromo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

Using compiz-fusion on gutsy and metabox window borders.

Open a gnome-terminal and go to the bottom right corner to try to resize

[Bug 34813] Re: gedit fails to save files over smbfs/cifs

2011-10-13 Thread yaztromo
This bug also effects the geany editor when saving over cifs.

1. Open a file and modify it
2. Save it
3. Modify it some more
4. Save
5. BAM! File has been modified dialog. Usually the time difference between
local and remote is 1 second.

My cifs server is Ubuntu 10.04 and my client machine is 10.10. Anyone
know of a workaround? Is this a server problem or a client problem?

[Bug 387957] Re: Improve Save As Dialog Box (focus issues)

2012-03-22 Thread yaztromo
Adding my name to this list.

1. Choose Save A Copy in Gimp
2. Navigate by mouse to folder where I want to save
3. See that filename is highlighted so it looks like filename box has focus
4. Begin typing
5. Find that my text is appearing to the bottom right of the box.
6. Waves of rage as you take hands off the keyboard, move the mouse and click
in filename box.
7. Even more rage then as highlighting is gone, so I have to delete the file
name manually

Really, it is these little things that drive you mad, when you are just
trying to get through the working day. Argh!

Definitely not a duplicate of that evince bug. The two bugs don't seem

This needs reporting to Xfce bug tracker. I will do so if no-one else

Reported at XFCE: https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11248

Also for anyone getting annoyed by this bug, a workaround is to install
pcmanfm, which is based on Thunar. Then just set your default file
manager to pcmanfm in the Settings Manager - Preferred Applications.

The two file managers are very alike so nothing feels out of place when
using pcmanfm.
