[Bug 1877288] [NEW] Text in top bar is scaled wrong
Public bug reported: ## What is the bug When upgradig to Ubuntu 20.04, it also updated Gnome to 3.36.1. When using my ultrawide (and configuring it via xrandr because the gnome config tool does not work properly) the top bar is behaving strange. When no windows are open, the top bar "Activities" are showing correctly, but when opening a window, the text and hitbox doubles in height. The part with the tray icons and power/internet etc is wrong all the time. See attached image. ## What happened Text and open programs field double the bar height. I have chosen to unlock my GPG key at login time. In processes launched by Unity, I sometimes get the GPG_AGENT_INFO environment variable set, but other times (in other login sessions) not. [Bug 1247564] [NEW] Initial window size slightly too small causing scaling+smoothing on image
Public bug reported: When opening an image that is medium sized, but still much smaller than screen resolution, eog sizes its window initially slightly too small, causing scaling and consequently smoothing to be applied to the image. This makes crisp images like figures, diagrams etc. look unnecessarily blurred (and bad) at first sight. Increasing eog window size a little fixes it so that the image is displayed 1:1 (pixel perfect). Pressing Ctrl+0 also fixes the initial sizing of the image. I see no way to turn off Best fit option by default in prefs. That would probably fix it for smaller images, but is unpractical for larger ones, where scaling is desireable. Attached source image and screenshot of initial eog window (untouched) shows the problem. My screen resolution is 1920x1200 and the source image is 640x480, so it should not have been scaled by eog on first display. [Bug 241562] [NEW] Latest gvfs-update in hardy-proposed causes huge IO-lags
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gvfs This update: gvfs (0.2.4-0ubuntu2) hardy-proposed; urgency=low * debian/patches/80_samba_browsing_authentification.patch: - gnome bugzilla change to allow shares when authentification is required, the code try anonymous connections before asking for a password though so it doesn't solve the case where anonymous and login are authorized but give access to different ressources, see comments on http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=524485 for references (lp: #207072) causes huge problems for me. The gnome-panel takes close to a minute to appear after login, the save file download dialog in Firefox takes ~30 seconds to appear, and there are lags/hangs in general. I had to revert the the previous version of gvfs in hardy-updates, which fixes all these problems. ** Affects: gvfs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Latest gvfs-update in hardy-proposed causes huge IO-lags https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/241562 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 241562] Re: Latest gvfs-update in hardy-proposed causes huge IO-lags
I didn't to anything special to trigger it. But I have my laptop at work, and there's a machine here with the same hostname as my server at home. The server at home has Samba running, but I suspect the one here at work does not, and maybe there's some hang because gvfs tries to contact it, authorize or whatever behind the scenes, but obviously does not get a reply. I'm at work, currently, so cannot spend more time on this now, but can help in debugging later. -- Latest gvfs-update in hardy-proposed causes huge IO-lags https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/241562 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 241562] Re: Latest gvfs-update in hardy-proposed causes huge IO-lags
Of course, I will try to help in figuring this one out. Here's some info about my setup: I've got a bookmarked Samba-share in Nautilus like this: smb://gandalf/ This share requires password-authentication. The hostname resolves to 192.168.1.2 (the local IP-adress of the Samba- server on my LAN). The problem occurs because of a difference in behaviour between this new gvfs-release and the previous: now it immediately connects to the share (I've checked with netstat) upon login, even though I don't actively click the bookmark in Nautilus. When gvfs or Nautilus tries to do this at work (when I log in), it hangs, and causes other desktop components to hang as well, such as the panel, file open dialogs, etc. There's no Samba-server with IP 192.168.1.2 at work. So, should it be trying to connect/authenticate to Samba-shares that are bookmarked in Nautilus but not opened by the user ? This is doomed to cause problems for roaming users with laptops, like myself, that use different servers, depending on location. -- Latest gvfs-update in hardy-proposed causes huge IO-lags https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/241562 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

If I remove the Samba-share bookmark in Nautilus, it stops trying to connect immediately upon login to Gnome desktop. [Bug 212789] Re: gvfs fuse mount is not functional after logout and subsequent login
Seeing this as well (clean Hardy install from release-candidate image, all updates as of Apr 22 2008 applied). The ~/.gvfs mountpoint becomes unusable after logout/login, with transport endpoint not connected error. [Bug 212789] Re: gvfs fuse mount is not functional after logout and subsequent login
Confirming that a work-around is to manually unmount the ~/.gvfs using: $ fusermount -u ~/.gvfs Then close/unmount all opened remote locations in Nautilus and log out and back in, again. [Bug 195180] Re: user-mountable (nfs) filesystems are not showing up in Computer view of nautilus
I've been bitten by this as well, after upgrading to Hardy. Although I actually use CIFS, even though I only have Linux-boxes around. In Gutsy, the fstab-mounts would show up in Nautilus, and allow one-click mounting. No more it seems. Even worse is that the smb:/// protocol in Nautilus/gvfs seems buggy at best, with duplicate entries showing up when accessing a share, and problems connecting as my own user and not guest/anonymous (which results in read-only access). -- user-mountable (nfs) filesystems are not showing up in Computer view of nautilus https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/195180 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Sorry, I somehow and unintentionally marked the bug as affecting Nautilus as well (well, I guess it does, but ..). [Bug 194376] Re: Rhythmbox starts spinning after the connection to an sftp-server times out.
How to trigger the bug: 1. Import a folder containing audio-files on another computer using sftp. Path example: sftp://[EMAIL PROTECTED]/home/user/mymusic. 2. Start to play an audio-file from this folder and pause it during playback. 3. Leave it on pause for a while. 1-2 hours should be suficcient. 4. Unpause and observe the unexpected behaviour as described earlier. -- Rhythmbox starts spinning after the connection to an sftp-server times out. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/194376 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 194376] Re: Rhythmbox starts spinning after the connection to an sftp-server times out.
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem: Rhythmbox is left on pause for 1-2 hours in the middle of a file played from an sftp-server. 2. the behavior you expected: I expect Rhythmbox to continue playing the file and continue with the next one, and otherwise behave normaly. 3. the behavior you actually encountered: First i notice that Rhythmbox starts using all available cpu. When i start playing the file the program behaves in one of the following ways: I) Rhythmbox does not respond to mouse or keyboard input and must be closed, II) Rhythmbox plays the parts of the file it still has i buffer and becomes unresponsive like in I) III) Rhythmbox plays the entire file which is all buffered and then terminates/crashes with no error message. I have tried to browse files on the sftp-server with the add folders menu if the program is available for user input (before i try to unpause it) and the message i get is something about a protocol-error. The sftp-server I'm using is the standard sftp-server in the openssh-server package in ubuntu 7.10. -- Rhythmbox starts spinning after the connection to an sftp-server times out. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/194376 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 33214] Re: gnome-screensaver restores default color-correction settings
The gamma-fading hack of gnome-screensaver breaks terribly with the latest fglrx driver (8.37.6) from AMD/ATI on my hardware.
