[Bug 2011806] Re: [lunar] Snaps don't launch due to cgroup issue

2023-04-21 Thread 3vi1
Can confirm it affects KDE users as well - discovered this while trying
to launch Discord for the first time in a long time. The snap will only
launch from a terminal, not the shell ("not a snap cgroup error").
Flatpak version launches from shell just fine.

[Bug 1971010] Re: [vmwgfx] Screen and mouse doesn't work in VirtualBox when paravirtualization is enabled

2022-05-04 Thread 3vi1
I have the exact same bug, using Xorg. VM worked until updated to
Jammy, now shows just like in OP's video: Launcher is drawn fully, but
only the top left part of the background draws. Dragging windows in
working portion of screen with mouse doesn't work.

The paravirtualization setting has no effect, in my experience - tried
every setting and system persists to show the issue.

[Bug 1299747] Re: Cannot create PGP key in Ubuntu 14.04

2017-02-22 Thread 3vi1
THANK YOU to Thomas for this last comment. Even today, running the
17.04 alpha, I thought I had discovered a bug with keys not being
generated - when the real problem is that the interface doesn't tell you
it will take time for the key to be generated. After waiting several
minutes one of the two duplicate keys I attempted to create appeared in
my list.

The interface generally needs an update to avoid this problem of user
confusion.

There may be other problems than confusion as well. Since I created two
keys with exactly the same name/info, but only see one in my list, how
do if I didn't break the process? Not knowing what happened after
kicking off the generation, I as a normal user have no idea if it failed
to create the second key or it created both but is only showing one in
the list because they're not uniquely named.

There are four new files in ~/.gnupg/private-keys-v1.d/... and it looks
like the key's listed only once in pubring.gpg... It's technical enough
that the sort of person who actually uses the Password and Keys GUI can
have no confidence in their key's state after experiencing this
situation.

I deleted the key to start over, some of my trepidation was confirmed:
I was asked for two separate confirmations when deleting the key - so
I'm guessing it was one for each duplicate.

[Bug 1603501] [NEW] gimp: symbol lookup error: gimp: undefined symbol: gegl_param_multiline_get_type

2016-07-15 Thread 3vi1
Public bug reported:

On fully up to date 16.10 installs, gimp no longer starts.

1. Run 'gimp' from console.
2. Console returns: "gimp: symbol lookup error: gimp: undefined symbol:
gegl_param_multiline_get_type" and exits, instead of starting the app.

The installed package/version of gimp is 2.8.16-1ubuntu3. Gimp was
previously working fine on this install, so my guess is the symbol was
deprecated/removed in a new version of some gegl lib.

[Bug 864479] Re: System goes to hibernate or suspend even when set to Don't suspend

2011-10-02 Thread 3vi1
Confirming here. I noticed my desktop system had done this last night.
I booted it up and was away for a couple of hours to find it had
hibernated again.

I checked my settings and they were set to Don't Suspend. The When
power is critically low dropdown setting was showing a blank value, as
if neither Hibernate nor Shutdown were selected.

I changed the values in both boxes, then moved them back to Don't
suspend and Hibernate, to see if this is just a misreading of legacy
settings by some update of the program. I'll let this system sit for a
couple of hours now to see if it worked.

[Bug 814703] Re: empathy icon looks bigger than usual

2011-08-04 Thread 3vi1
Yours actually renders better than on my systems. On mine, I can see
the whole icon... but with a big gray background - and it covers up
other items on the notifications panel. Other white-listed apps show
the same behavior... though their icons tend to be the proper size.

I hadn't opened a bug on it, since it renders exactly the same on both
of my very dissimilar systems (i980x desktop with nVidia graphics, and
CR-48 with intel chipset) - so I figured it was a known bug from the
gtk3 conversion that just hadn't been worked out.

[Bug 794687] [NEW] GDM user list blank on first start

2011-06-08 Thread 3vi1
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

On my fastest system (i980x booting from SSD), the GDM user list alway
comes up blank after a machine restart. By 'blank', I mean that 'Other'
is the only user in the list.

If I ctrl-alt-1 out to a terminal session and restart the gdm service,
the list comes up properly. I'm not sure what GDM does in the
background to retrieve the user list, but it certainly feels as if it's
running into a race condition with some other process - and is trying to
retrieve the user list before that process is available.

I don't believe this problem was present on the same machine in Natty,
but it's been a while since I used GDM regularly (Neither KDM nor
LightDM seem to suffer the same problem on the same machine).

I know we're switching to LightDM, but it's got a few problems
/unsupported-features right now so some people may be using GDM for a
while.

[Bug 776048] [NEW] Facebook Chat seems to forget password

2011-05-02 Thread 3vi1
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

- I can add chat accounts fine, and they all connect with no problem. I
added ICQ, IRC, Yahoo, MSN, Facebook Chat, Google. I told it to save
passwords where applicable.

- Shutdown computer and wait any amount of time (5mins or 12 hours...
doesn't matter), then power on the machine.

- Empathy shows the 'x' on the chat bubble in empathy, and none of the
the statuses are selectable.

- Select Chat Accounts to open it... and then just close it.

- The empathy statuses are now selectable... but I notice from the
Chat window that none of the facebook friends are showing.

- Select Chat Accounts again... and see everything is logged in except
Facebook (Authorization failed).

- Flicking the on off button on the Facebook account produces the same
authorization failure when it tries to connect.

- Reentering the password and hitting apply allows it to connect every
time.

- Reboot again... problem is back.

- Checking in Password and Encryption keys, the correct password seems
to be in there. :\

[Bug 776048] Re: Facebook Chat seems to forget password

2011-05-02 Thread 3vi1
Also - When Facebook Chat is showing the Authorization Failed in the
accounts window, it *does* look the password is already filled in and is
the correct length.

[Bug 776048] Re: Facebook Chat seems to forget password

2011-05-02 Thread 3vi1
Marking as invalid... There was definitely some bug, but deleting the
account and recreating it seems to have stopped the issue. I'll re-open
another bug if I can figure out how to recreate it from scratch.

[Bug 410407] Re: Clicking on items in Flash player does nothing [READ DESCRIPTION]

2010-06-06 Thread 3vi1
Go for it wensveen! I voted for the bug on their tracker, though I
don't expect them to give us any attention until they finish the more
important task of convincing Apple to allow Flash on additional
platforms.

[Bug 504972] Re: ubuntu karmic no sound

2010-01-10 Thread 3vi1
Did you go into alsamixer or another mixer app and make sure that no
audio channels are muted?

By default, one of my systems had the Surround channel muted (which
mutes everything) and the PCM volume set to 0 (which was muting audio
from VLC and media players but not the system sounds).

[Bug 269215] Re: There is a problem with the configuration server. (/usr/lib/libgconf2-4/gconf-sanity-check-2 exited with status 256)

2009-05-15 Thread 3vi1
I just now installed the gnome-desktop-environment package on my karmic
Kubuntu installation, and ran into the same issue. The chmod 775
solution seems to have worked for me.

I notice this problem a lot with Jaunty. Starting the BOINC manager,

[Bug 260436] Re: Unable to force screen resolution with vtswitch/splitter

2009-04-08 Thread 3vi1
@Cefn:

Thank you very much for posting the gtf command and xorg changes! I ran
into this issue today while attaching a machine to a KVM and could not
get it to work until I saw your workaround.

It's pretty frustrating when the GUI gives you no options other than
320x240 and 640x480 because DPMS doesn't work through the KVM.

[Bug 326734] Re: display sometimes does not update after enter key

2009-02-08 Thread 3vi1
I see this exact same behavior with Yakuake when I have compiz running
on Kubuntu 9.04a4 (64-bit) w/nvidia 180.27. It happens all the time.
Disabling Compiz causes the terminal to work fine again.

I've noticed that other parts of the terminal are sometimes slow to
update (slower than the rest of the terminal window) if you have a
plasmoid behind them. :\
