The system hasn't frozen again. However, there is a lot of skipping
while playing music in both Rhythmbox and VLC Player. The sound quality
is definitely worse than before applying the upgrade.

I somehow lost your last email, so I'm glad you sent this. I was
experiencing a bunch of crashes with 64 bit Ubuntu 9.04 and I believe
they are all related to the kernel bug problem being worked on. I think
it was just coincidence it crash while I was in GIMP, though it did
