[Bug 1767454] Re: "Other Locations" does not automatically find Samba servers in Ubuntu 18.04

2019-03-10 Thread Amir
I have to say that this bug is a dissapointment. The whole samba support
in Ubuntu since 18.04 is abysmal. Prior to this, I was able to access
shares with no problems, now there is a problem. The bug has been posted
one year ago. After changing the protoocol, I discovered I needed to
change the interface too, because samba somehow insists on using
virtbr0.

Why? These things are a dealbreaker. My wife uses a NAS drive on our
network. Each time I tried to show her the advantages of linux, some
_basic_ function like using a NAS without configuring a f.. FTP client
for her, just coming to the box and finding that it works, prevented her
from switching.

[Bug 914313] Re: Pictures in tags of audio files, which act as thumbnails, are NOT shown for ALL files in same directory

I had a similar problem, and found a workaround. All I did was
completely remove the three folders in ~/.thumbnails: fail, large and
normal. Nautilus then re-reads the metadata and assigns new icons to all
the files on the computer. I hope this helps.

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala

apt is unable to locate gnome-display-properties for some reason (found
in /usr/bin, runs via System - Administration - Display), and Synaptic
does not show a package by that name.

When enabling an external monitor (Samsung SyncMaster 151s) on an IBM
ThinkPad X41 (docked on X4 UltraBase), then dragging it to the opposite
side of the Laptop screen and clicking Apply, the mouse cursor appears
on one screen, but the system behaves as though it is on the other, i.e.
mouse movement (buttons are highlighted), and mouse clicks are
registered as though the cursor is in the same coordinate on the
opposite monitor.

[Bug 248129] [NEW] Wrong view when viewing a right-to-left document

2008-07-13 Thread Amir Khosroshahi
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

Right-to-left documents are set to a wrong view when they are opened and
when you navigate to another page. That is, the horizontal scroll bar is
put at the very left and the left part of the document is show-- which
is suitable only for left-to-right documents. So, this default behavior
should be corrected for RTL documents. The necessity to scroll to right
every time you go to another page is really annoying.

To reproduce the bug, make a document in Open Office Writer in a right-
to-left language (like Persian) and make a PDF file from it. Open the
file in Evince and you will see the problem.

Re: [Bug 194813] Re: always at the end of copy. This bug is repeatable.

2008-02-26 Thread Amir Ben-Yosef
Hi.

I am in the process of moving from microsoft to UBUNTU.

In order to accomplish that I am copying files from my old machine to a
kingston 4GB USB disk. Then I connect the USB to this machine and copy
the files.

All the files has been copied fine!
It has nothing to do with my files, They are all fine, among them are my
MP3 files, tons of MPG,AVI,M2V (my video files).

If you'll insist I will give you some, but the problem seem to do
nothing with the files.

The way I deal with it is to select all the files in the USB disk at
once and copy. of corse in 50% of my coping it crash at the end.

it simply disapper and later I am asked if I'd like to send a bug report
wich I did twice.

It happens when I copy small amount of files and up to full 4GB so I
think the number of files or thier size is not relevant to the problem.

hopes this helps

Amir

When you copy the files to the hard disk, do you get any crash dialogs

report to come from the file manager itself to be able to obtain the
 proper information.

Does the file eventually copy fine? If not, it is very possible that
that portion of your USB drive is corrupted. If you think this may be
the case, try copying it onto another computer to see if the problem
 occurs.

Also, if the files are not private, could you provide the names of them
 and their file sizes?

 Thanks!

I do not agree. it crashed the window i was looking at the files as
well. If I opened 2 windows (1 to show source 2 to show target ) It
would crash them both

file a bug if you think it is a software error.

[Bug 155840] Re: UI for display brightness inconsistent

2008-02-23 Thread Jonathan Amir
I can't reproduce it in Hardy Alpha 4 because the ui changed. Under the
On Battery Power the above mentioned label is gone. There are some
other options instead, but I am not sure if they are relevant to this
bug or not. They don't seem to correspond to the mentioned label in On
AC Power.
