[Bug 830388] [NEW] Apply button remains disabled after changes in empathy chat accounts window if account is disabled

2011-08-20 Thread Amit Tendulkar
Public bug reported:

What ever configuration changes I make in a disabled account can not be saved
(apply button is not enabled).
Here are the steps to reproduce.
- Bring up the empathy chat accounts window
- Click on existing configured account that is disabled (from left hand side
pane)
- In the right hand side window, make some changes like remove the remembered
password or change the user name

Expected result
- Apply button should be enabled to save the configuration changes (these
should be applied when next time I try to login to the chat server)

Actual result:
- Notice that the Apply and Cancel buttons remain disabled even after doing the
changes
Note that I do not want to connect to an account first and then remove the
remembered password and then disconnect it again.

2009-05-13 Thread Amit Tendulkar
Unfortunately I had to shift to Windows on my company laptop. So there
is no way I can verify this at the moment. I upgraded my desktop on line
to Jaunty so don't have the latest livecd to check with the laptop. I
believe this should not be hardware specific. So somebody with Ubuntu on
laptop should post a comment here.

[Bug 157317] Re: Evolution freezes (for half a minute) in regular intervals if one of the mail/news servers are not accessible over the network

2008-02-12 Thread Amit Tendulkar
But the program is not crashing. It is freezing for around 10 seconds
after every say a minute or so (after 10 seconds it is unfreezing).

Currently the steps to reproduce are,
- Connect the laptop to office network (and load the office network settings
through System-Administration-Network)
- Open evolution, do some work
- At the end of the day put the laptop in standby (without closing the
evolution), carry it home and connect to home network
- Wake up the laptop and switch the network through
System-Administration-Network
- Now try to compose an email through evolution. Notice that it freezes
in-between
- Close evolution (this takes some time... 3-4 minutes maybe) and start it up
again
- Now notice that it has stopped freezing

The company's internal newsgroup server is not accessible from home
network (it is configured in the evolution), but this doesn't seem to
cause it as I tried with disabling the newsgroup setting.

Let me know if anything else is needed.

[Bug 182799] Re: Evolution: Messages aren't deleted from POP mail server with SSL encryption after specified number of days

[Bug 183168] Evolution: under certain conditions newgroups show unread messages even after all messages are read

2008-01-15 Thread Amit Tendulkar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

This happens only in case of an NNTP server. Suppose my NNTP server is
checked for new messages for every one minute, then after reading a
message (and marking it as read), the newgroup is again showed with one
unread message after the next fetch and until the next-to-next fetch.
Here are the steps elaborated,

Steps to reproduce
- Have NNTP server configured in evolution that is accessed for new messages in
every minute.
- Have a newsgroup with all read messages
- Get a new message posted to the above newsgroup (maybe through different
user/machine).
- After one minute the message should appear in the evolution under the above
newsgroup (this is indicated by making the newsgroup name as BOLD and putting
(1) text against it)
- Click on the above newsgroup on LHS pane and highlight the new message so
that it will be marked as read
- The above action will un-bold the newsgroup name and remove the (1) text
- Wait for a minute for evolution to contact the NNTP server again

Expected result
- The newsgroup name in LHS pane should remain in regular text (i.e. not bold)
unless any new messages are posted

Actual result
- The newsgroup name is made bold with (1) text against it. However, no new
messages are seen on the RHS pane (messages list)
- This phenomenon is observed for different number of messages as well (e.g. if
originally 10 messages then (10) will reappear after a minute even if they
are marked as read)
- If you wait for another fetch cycle, then the newsgroup name returns back to
regular text and the (1) string vanishes

So the time line can be,
0 minutes: newsgroup with no messages, post test message into the news group
1 minutes: evolution fetches the new message, newsgroup name marked in bold and
the (1) string shown against it. Mark the message as read so that newsgroup
name is marked in regular and the (1) text vanishes
2 minutes: evolution contacts the NNTP server and didn't get any message.
However newsgroup name marked in bold and the (1) string shown against the
name. Here mark all messages as read function doesn't work and the name
remains in bold with (1) string
3 minutes: evolution contacts the NNTP server and didn't get any message.
Newsgroup name is marked in regular and the (1) text vanishes

[Bug 182799] Evolution: Messages aren't deleted from POP mail server with SSL encryption after specified number of days

2008-01-14 Thread Amit Tendulkar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Evolution doesn't delete an email from the POP3 email server (with SSL
encryption) after a specified number of days and the mailbox quota on
the server gets full.

Steps to reproduce
- Configure a POP3 email account with
  - Server type: POP
  - SSL encryption
  - Auth type as password
- Under Edit-Preferences-select account name-Edit-receiving
options-Message storage
  - Keep Leave messages on the server as ON
  - Keep Delete after X days as ON and put say 5 days in place of X
  - Keep Disable support for all POP3 extensions as OFF
- Make sure that the server name and account details provided in the above
setup contains more than five days old emails and the server also has a
web-interface (or IMAP interface) to cross-check the presence of emails on the
server
- Do a send-receive of emails from the account
- Make sure the old emails are fetched in your local Inbox
- After send-receive, log on to the web interface or connect through an IMAP
interface to check whether the emails older than 5 days are deleted from the
server

Expected result
- The old emails should be deleted from the server

Actual result
- The old emails are not deleted and remain on the server.

[Bug 159442] evolution: double clicking on message area while finding text in an email crashes evolution

2007-11-02 Thread Amit Tendulkar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

It seems that this bug is reproducible only on HTML messages (and not in
plain text messages)

Steps to reproduce,
- Double click any HTML format email message
- In the email message window press Ctrl+Shift+F to bring the find text toolbar
- Put in any findable text (in find text tool bar) and click (find) 'next'
button several times

[Bug 157317] Re: Evolution freezes (for half a minute) in regular intervals if one of the mail/news servers are not accessible over the network

2007-10-29 Thread Amit Tendulkar
I am completely baffled now as to why this is happening. The bug is
reproduced in the following scenario,

- Connected to the net (LAN) from office (where USB keyboard is present)
- Suspended the laptop (standby mode) brought to home and woken up (without USB
keyboard)
- Changed the network settings to home broadband (through
System-Admin-Network)
- Disabled one of the unreachable (reachable in office but unreachable in home)
servers in Evolution through Edit-Preferences (this step is optional)

In the above scenario the evolution keeps freezing regularly

In the office I have tried disconnecting the USB keyboard from the
laptop. In such case, evolution didn't hang for a long time.

[Bug 157317] Evolution freezes (for half a minute) in regular intervals if laptop is running without the USB keyboard

2007-10-25 Thread Amit Tendulkar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

This issue has started appearing after I upgraded to Gusty Gibbon
(though it may be occurring less frequently in Feisty Fawn). Whenever I
am operating my (HP) laptop without the USB keyboard plugged in (and
using laptops inbuilt keyboard) then after every minute or so, all the
evolution windows freeze for 20-30 seconds. Though they continue to take
input (e.g. if I am composing an email, the typed text entered during
the frozen interval appears after the windows are unfrozen).

Another interesting thing to note that is only evolution is getting
affected due to this issue.

Here is the output from my uname -a command,
Linux lap432 2.6.20-16-generic #2 SMP Sun Sep 23 19:50:39 UTC 2007 i686
GNU/Linux

NOTE: This may be due to a case when I boot Ubuntu with the USB keyboard
plugged in, then after some time plug out the USB keyboard, put the
system to standby, bring up the system from standby without the USB
keyboard plugged in. After this the evolution starts to give this issue.
Though I still need to confirm whether this is really causing the issue.

2007-10-25 Thread Amit Tendulkar
Okay, I seem to have got it.

The issue seems to be with the network settings. If one of the mail/news
servers are not accessible, then evolution windows keep freezing at
regular interval (USB keyboard or not). I will change the bug summary to
reflect this.

** Summary changed:

- Evolution freezes (for half a minute) in regular intervals if laptop is

[Bug 145127] Evolution: copy-paste doesn't work smoothly inside 'to' and 'cc' fields while composing an email

2007-09-26 Thread Amit Tendulkar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Steps to reproduce,
- Start evolution
- Compose email
- Put some contact name that is auto-completed in the 'to' field
- Put another contact name that is auto-completed in the 'cc' field
- Now cut the address in the 'to' field by selecting the name (through keyboard
with shift+arrow keys) and doing Ctrl-x
- Press tab to bring focus to the 'cc' field
- Notice that if the cursor in the 'cc' field is at the beginning of the
already entered contact name (this can be achieved with the Home key) and if
you paste earlier cut contact name at that location, then the contact name is
pasted, but both the names lose their special meaning (i.e. they are no longer
underlined and are merely two name strings without email addresses associated
with them).
- Instead if you press end key in the 'cc' field and then press Ctrl-v (after
then comma) then the cut contact name is pasted appropriately (with email
address and all).

The above behavior is observed even when the contact name is cut
including a trailing comma.

[Bug 141489] LDAP Addressbook: Password can't be entered till the 'show contacts' dialog box is open in the background

2007-09-21 Thread Amit Tendulkar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I have configured an LDAP addressbook in Evolution (2.10.1) on my
Feisty. While composing an email when I try to add email addresses from
the LDAP address book then a dialog box requesting password pops up.
However, it never gets the focus unless the background dialog box is
open. I am able to enter the password only after I close the backgroud
dialog box.

Steps to reproduce,
- Configure an LDAP address book that requires a password.
- Compose a new email
- Click on the 'To' button to add email addresses in the 'To' field.
- Notice a dialog box named 'Select contacts from the address book' pops up
- Select the newly configured LDAP address book from the 'Address book'
drop-down
- Notice that a dialog box pops up asking for the password.
- Even if the dialog box has focus, anything typed through the keyboard is not
reflected in the password field of the dialog box (in fact sometimes the
password is reflected in the plain text inside the 'Search' field of the
previous dialog box)

Workaround
- Press alt-tab and switch back to the original 'Select contacts from the
address book' dialog box and press the close button
- Switch back to the password dialog box and enter the password (now it accepts
the password)
- Click 'ok' and then the dialog box vanishes (password is now cached)
- Now repeat the above procedure and this time the password dialog box doesn't
pop-up and you are able to add address book entries.

[Bug 128174] Re: Can't close a particular item in the alarm-notify list

2007-08-21 Thread Amit Tendulkar
Regarding your following comment,
snip
Rereading your last comment... it seems what you want is to: given a collection
of triggered alarms, select a subset and close this subset; this action would
then (implicitly) renew the rest of the collection for another round
/snip

I am not expecting the 'rest of the collection' to implicitly renew (I
guess you mean snooze here). Instead I want it to remain there in the
alarms list dialog box and don't want it to vanish for x amount of time
(which will happen by clicking snooze).

You might understand what (or why) I am asking (this) after knowing my
way (or a group of users' way) to to handle this (alarms) feature.

When a set of alarms pop up in a list, I usually prefer the list to
remain in the dialog (instead of snoozing after every x amount of time)
and close selective items as and when the work related to that item is
finished. Currently I have to snooze all the unfinished items to close
the targeted item.

So in short the feature requested is I don't want to snooze any of the
items but close only selective items and the remaining items should
persist in the dialog till I close them (instead of getting vanished for
some time by snoozing them).

It might seem rather personal/unnecessary feature and you can close this
request if you are not convinced to buy this idea.

Let me know what you think.

[Bug 128174] Re: Can't close a particular item in the alarm-notify list

2007-08-19 Thread Amit Tendulkar
Well, the functionality I am expecting is,
without having to snooze other alarms I should be able to close a single alarm

I am using evolution 2.10.1 (what is e-d-s?)

This functionality will be similar to that of MS Outlook where you can
selectively dismiss reminders without having to snooze remaining
reminders.

Let me know if you need any other info

[Bug 128174] Re: Can't close a particular item in the alarm-notify list

2007-08-13 Thread Amit Tendulkar
I am using Feisty Fawn

$ uname -a
Linux lap432 2.6.20-16-generic #2 SMP Thu Jun 7 20:19:32 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux

To trigger the bug follow these steps.
- Add two appointments to the evolution calender maybe at different times but
arrange the alarm timings such that they pop up at the same time (e.g. at 8:30
AM add appointment at 9 AM and 9:45 AM. Set alarm for 9AM appointment to 15
minutes before the appointment and set the 9:45AM appointment's alarm to 1 hour
before the appointment).
- So at 8:45 AM both alarms are shown.
- Suppose you want to close only the first appointment's alarm then it is not
possible.
- Workaround is to snooze the second (or n-1) appointments' alarms and then
close the remaining alarm.

[Bug 128174] Can't close a particular item in the alarm-notify list

2007-07-25 Thread Amit Tendulkar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

If there are two or more notifications in the evolution appointment
notification list and if I want to close only one of them then it is not
possible (close button closes all of them).

A workaround is to snooze remaining alarms and then close the one I
want.
