It could be that I am hit by some other problem, but most of the
symptoms seem to be the same.
My experience is that Unity freezes even when Blank screen is selected as
screensaver.
Whenever the freeze hits I switch to a terminal with Ctrl-Alt-F1, log in and
then issue the following commands:
Actually it does not happen anymore. Nor with compiz, neither with
metacity. Maybe an update fixed it?

I have done some quick testing. I formatted my Kingston DataTraveler G2
16GB drive as a FAT32, FAT32 (lba), EXT2, EXT3 disk one at a time and
tried copying over a file little over 1GB in size. I monitored the
actual disk operations with dstat.
What I have found is that the first 100 - 200MB for
One more thing...
I don't know if this is related, but whenever I try to Safely remove
the disk I always got this error:
Unable to stop drive
Error detaching: helper exited with exit code 1: sense buffer empty
Error SYNCHRONIZE CACHE for /dev/sdb: Success

Great! Any idea when we will see this pushed in the repos?

Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: brasero
I occasionaly burn video files along with a subtitle file to a
rewritable dvd so that I can watch it using a DVD player. For the DVD
player to recognise and load the subtitle file it must be similarly
named. Only the extension must differ.
For
I followed your instructions. Here it is the debug output. The problem
happened this time too. Somewhere around 50% the progress bar just went
to 0% and stayed there for the rest of the burning process.

When starting to burn a disk, for a while the progress bar shows the

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

let empty the trash even if Nautilus would not.

Is it reproducible?
I did not found out yet an exact way to reproduce the bug, but it happens quite
often. Of course, after moving some file to the trash. There is, however, one
other thing which might deserve its own bug report, but maybe it is also
related to this. After I delete some file
