I have noticed this also. After testing it seems to be a race condition.
I can only reproduce it when headphones are unplugged (not plugged in).
Essentially what is happening is that the headphone port becomes
unavailable therefore the backend goes to remove that output which
results in the UI

If so could you highlight exactly which profile is being omitted. I have
looked at the list above and AFAICT this is the profile you are after

I talked with Jonathan today about this.
Currently the only way to get rhythmbox to use a new lame preset, is to first
create the preset.
In python this looks like something like:

On second testing I can reproduce a). The recording program needs to be
recording, changing the default input from control center mid recording

Noahy, could copy that file attached above using:
open terminal.
cd to the directory where the libsoundnua.so exists and run this command :
sudo cp libsoundnua.so /usr/lib/control-center-1/panels/
Then run the control center from terminal, reproduce the crash and copy
and paste the complete
David and I have discussed this, here are the findings :
The bug arises from an issue with pulse whereby the supported profile
list of a given device changes at runtime so for example (and also
specific to this case for this bug) a device which supported a surround
profile at startup for some
thanks for that, could you also provide the debug trace from running the
control center.
Open a terminal and run gnome-control-center soundnua'. Then from the
control centre recreate the bug and copy and paste the trace on the
terminal to a comment here.

Does the profile swap complete successfully in the background. i.e. does
the sound output through the HDMI output using the desired profile (even
though the profile combo is incorrect) ?
