[Bug 1471845] [NEW] Saving as draft moves the cursor at the top

2015-07-06 Thread Daniel Betschart
Public bug reported:

As I write an email I use File, Save as Draft (CTRL+S) from time to
time. But then the cursor goes at the top of the text. Instead it should
stay at the current position.

Before version 3.2 I have not seen this effect, but in 3.10 it is still
there.

I have reported this upstream:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=750139. Upstream says that
Evolution 3.10 is very old and that this bug won't be fixed in this
version. The bug is fixed in 3.16.

Could you please fix this himself? Because Ubuntu 14.04 is LTS and it
contains this old Evolution 3.10. Thank you.

[Bug 1335881] [NEW] GTK+ print dialog doesn't permit to print more than 100 copies at once

2014-06-30 Thread Daniel Betschart
Public bug reported:

I want to print many copies with evince, but it only permits me a
maximum of 100 copies. The same for printouts in gedit, because the
problem is in the GTK+ print dialog.

The bug is known and fixed upstream:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=672676. Is it possible to
make a backport to 14.04 LTS and also 12.04 LTS, because GTK is in main
and 12.04 is supported until April 2017?

[Bug 1320503] Re: pdftops converts some documents as a picture

2014-06-24 Thread Daniel Betschart
One can switch the renderer from pdftops to gs with lpadmin -o pdftops-
renderer-default=gs. The output looks a bit different, but ghostscript
make the same fault as pdftops: somtimes the output is a picture.

I have tried it on Ubuntu 14.04. The problem still exists here. This is
unusable. Printers that do not support postscript are better supported
today. But printers for offices are mostly postscript printers.

[Bug 1320540] Re: Print options should be saved per printer across sessions

2014-05-20 Thread Daniel Betschart
Upstream Bug: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=730467.

Sometimes I ask me why I report bugs to Ubuntu, if I have to report the
bug to upstream also. If upstream does not fix the problem, Ubuntu
should have the chance to fix it and to make Ubuntu better. If this is
not the case, Ubuntu is not better than upstream. I understand this for
software not in the main repository, but for Evince, which is in main?

[Bug 1320503] [NEW] pdftops converts some documents as a picture

2014-05-17 Thread Daniel Betschart
Public bug reported:

On some PDF documents pdftops converts some or all pages to pictures
with a low resolution. But it should not convert the text into a
picture. The output of the postscript file differs extremeley from the
original PDF file. And this postscript file is sent to the printer if
the printer understands postscript.

I detected this problem with a postscript printer. But using pdftops on
the command line with the same PDF gives the same result in the PS file
as printed. Taking the temporary file from /var/spool/cups/tmp it shows
me the same. Therefore it is not a problem with the postscript printer,
instead it ist in pdftops.

Attached a PDF file and the resulting PS file using pdftops. Pages 1 and
2 are pictures, pages 3 to 5 are OK, page 6 is a picture. Perhaps this
is the cause of the difference in the file size.

Note if I use pdftocairo this problem does not exist. But I can't change
cups to use pdftocairo instead of pdftops.

[Bug 1320540] [NEW] Print options should be saved per printer across sessions

2014-05-17 Thread Daniel Betschart
Public bug reported:

As I can see, evince saves the print options between sessions regardless
of the printer. I have made two queues for the same printer to avoid
unneccessary color prints and to easier handle different paper in
different trays. If I change the printer in the GTK print dialog from
evince the options of the previously choosen printer still are active,
makes my two queues needless.

I think the software should save the options per printer, and eventually
per document.

[Bug 3667] Re: multipage (2 pages to 1) print function not working

2007-08-13 Thread Daniel Betschart
In Dapper the 2 of 1 bug was fixed with an update from dapper-updates. But in
Feisty it is here again, eg. with GEdit, which still uses the old libgnomeprint
library.
If I print a file with the option Handout 2 pages on 1 under Layout, the
preview shows a normal output, that contains 1 page on 1. Printing with this
setting on a HP Laserjet 5 prints also 1 page on 1. The options 1 page
distributed to 2 and booklet seems to does nothing.

As I can see, the layout dialog has changed between dapper and feisty.
Perhaps there is an error interpreting the settings from the newer
dialog.

[Bug 73149] Re: Copy from pilot works only the first time

2007-04-04 Thread Daniel Betschart
In the meantime the problem with e-d-s is fixed (gnome bug 363102) and works
fine with evolution 1.6 on my Ubuntu Dapper. But the memos and tasks still does
not works.
They does, if there are no records in evolution before the action starts. As I
can see in the file gnome-pilot-conduit-sync-abs.c from gnome-pilot there is a
call to sync_CopyFromPilot which is in the file sync.c from the package
pilot-link. This function seems to work if there are no records available.
Therefore I assume that the deletion of the old records in sync_CopyFromPilot
does not work.

[Bug 73149] Copy from pilot works only the first time

2006-11-24 Thread Daniel Betschart
Public bug reported:

My conduits are configured to copy from pilot each time. But only the
address book ist working this way. The calendar conduit is crashing if
there are already many items on it (gnome bug 319076). The memo and the
task conduit simply says Copy from pilot failed!

If I remove the memo and task records in my home under ~/.evolution,
shutdown evolution with --force-shutdown and restart evolution, gnome-

a second time, Copy from pilot is failed!

[Bug 50796] No refresh after changing the driver

2006-06-23 Thread Daniel Betschart
Public bug reported:

Some printer models have more than one driver. After changing the driver you
see still the options from the old driver. Even after closing the properties
dialog and reopen it, the wrong options are displayer. I have to close and
reopen gnome-cups-manager to see the options from the new driver.
This occurs in Breezy and Dapper.

** Affects: gnome-cups-manager (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Untriaged
 Status: Unconfirmed

[Bug 38201] Re: Wrong encoding of ID3 tags

2006-04-09 Thread Daniel Betschart
I use Breezy Badger and sound-juicer 2.12.2-0ubuntu1. Sorry, I forgot to
mention this.
I don't have an album title present at the moment, but you can test it when you
edit a title before ripping.
When I have seen this for the first time I had a brand new CD and there was no
info at cdbs. I typed in the titles manually. Later I ripped another CD and
sound-juicer gets the titles from cdbs but with the same result in the MP3-file.
So if you change the title to eg. Für you will see the problem.
Running sound-juicer from the command line shows only:
Couldn't find matching gstreamer tag for track-count
Couldn't find matching gstreamer tag for encoder
Couldn't find matching gstreamer tag for encoder-version
Filenames in the file system are correct. My locale is de_CH.UTF-8.

[Bug 38201] Wrong encoding of ID3 tags

2006-04-05 Thread Daniel Betschart
Public bug reported:

Affects: sound-juicer (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
Ripping a CD with non ascii characters in titles sound-juicer writes UTF-8 into
the ID3 V1 tags. Then, on players the titles are displayed wrong, rhythmbox
displays the titles wrong and also easy tag. But even I correct this with easy
tag, rhytmbox displays still wrong.
Ripping the same CD as Ogg Vorbis, there is no such problem.

[Bug 36395] No UTF-8 conversion with memos

2006-03-24 Thread Daniel Betschart
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/36395

Affects: gnome-pilot-conduits (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
When synchronizing the Palm memos the filenames and the file contents are in
ISO-8859-1. This is not very nice in an UTF-8 environment, as GNOME is. It is
not possible to open such a file with simply clicking on the file. I have to
open Gedit from menu, then open the file and first saying that the file has ISO
characters.
Creating a new memo on have to change the caracter set on save and eventually
change the filename if it contains non ASCII characters. This is not user
friendly.
