I have the same problem. It occurs for any mp3 file that I have tried. Ogg files work just fine. log attached of playing a single mp3. Open rhythmbox. Select file and play. The progress bar doesn't update. looks a bit related to #567307 Strangely the problem was that I had removed gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly to see if it would help with another problem. I mean install (or reinstall) gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly. which mp3 codec are you using?
