Yes you both correct,
Epiphany marked itself as default browser when irc and gwibber used it I
changed it back but was still looking at the links when I reported the
bug so must of assumed it was opened post change back. So the only app
it appears to be at fault then is ubuntu-bug/apport that is

is to blame for this one.

Upon install from usb stick (incase that makes a difference) of natty's
most recent alpha candidate the panel has been about 4px on the install
screen.
After install it is at the correct resolution.

If I copy a mock email with email headers etc to a file and call it
emailout.eml and right click on it then Evolution is selected to open
it.
However if you select this then Evolution refuses to open it.

themselves duplicating the bookmarks that are there.
