[Bug 1551686] Re: browser leaks old location data to web pages
To summarize the analysis and the plan forward, we have identified a series of fixes and improvements to various parts of the stack: Oxide: the ubuntu-specific provider code or related logic could filter out obvious bogus values returned by the location-service which do not meet the maximumAge filter Location-service: the service API could be extended to support a maximumAge filter parameter Location-service: in the absence of a maximumAge parameter, the accuracy could be reduced depending on the cached location age; that would help app decide whether to ask for a better location if needed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to location-service in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1551686 Title: browser leaks old location data to web pages To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/oxide/+bug/1551686/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1387734] [NEW] Location service uses the cached authorization, even if the user denied location access to an app
Public bug reported: The bug occurs after removing location access authorization to an application. The location is still available to the application, despite the user having revoked access from within USS Privacy Location. To reproduce: 1. Open a map application, like Here map 2. Allow access to location 3. Switch to System Settings Privacy Location 4. Disable location access for Maps 5. Kill Here map, and restart it What should happen: you should not have access anymore (and should not see a prompt) What happens instead: the app still has access to your location, as shown in the logs: I1030 16:15:38.167752 3100 cached_agent_glog_reporter.cpp:32] CachedAgent::authenticate_request_with_parameters: Application pid: 27975 Application uid: 32011 Application id: com.nokia.heremaps_here Cached request: Request(from: com.nokia.heremaps_here, feature: 0, when: 1414682114882519283, answer: granted) I confirmed that the trust store had recorded the authorization change as in: phablet@ubuntu-phablet:~$ sqlite3 ~/.local/share/UbuntuLocationService/trust.db select * from requests 1|unconfined|0|1414098093331252474|1 2|com.nokia.heremaps_here|0|1414682114882519283|1 3|com.nokia.heremaps_here|0|1414682131206341515|0 ** Affects: trust-store Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: location-service (Ubuntu) Importance: Critical Assignee: Thomas Voß (thomas-voss) Status: Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to location-service in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1387734 Title: Location service uses the cached authorization, even if the user denied location access to an app To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/trust-store/+bug/1387734/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Re: [Bug 1374577] Re: 'unconfined' should be precached and not listed under 'Location access' (or 'Other app access')
Indeed, the Location plugin in System settings does /hide/ unconfined entries, because: 1. there is no way to get back to the actual application desktop file to display its name and icon: we just know that an undefined unconfined application was granted access 2. in theory unconfined applications can bypass the location service to obtain the information they want; so an on/off toggle would give a false sense of control On Fri, Sep 26, 2014 at 11:09 PM, Jamie Strandboge ja...@ubuntu.com wrote: Ok, I was wrong, after reseting the db, I can see that while the location service does incorrectly prompt, system settings does not show it. [Bug 1374577] Re: 'unconfined' should be precached and not listed under 'Location access' (or 'Other app access')
It could be historical indeed. To verify, you could remove the Trust.db file and re-authorize each of your applications using Location to see if one of them still re-creates the unconfined entry. However, being unconfined it should have been filtered out anyway. so I'll mark the bug confirmed for now. ** Changed in: ubuntu-system-settings (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed ** Changed in: ubuntu-system-settings (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = David Barth (dbarth) ** Tags added: touch-2010-10-09 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to location-service in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1374577 Title: 'unconfined' should be precached and not listed under 'Location access' (or 'Other app access') To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/location-service/+bug/1374577/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 740864] Re: Find result is too light gray
Let me try to clarify and help find the right plan of action: 1. the release is closed now 2. it can't go as a 0day-sru, because we would have to have a clear definition of what to put in, and a clear test plan, and do that for the next week before the release; i don't see that happen right now 3. so it's an SRU, a normal one, with a complete change description, a test plan, test packages, etc. I invite you to continue commenting on the bug to provide that information. In terms of scope for the change, being an SRU it can only fix real problems, so: reverting to gray to make sure unfocused windows are not mistakenly taken for focused ones, and cimi's changes to make sure the scrollbar is still usable. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gedit in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/740864 Title: Find result is too light gray -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

The feature is currently enabled by default, with the applications listed at: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ayatana-scrollbar-team/ayatana- scrollbar/trunk/view/head:/os/os-utils.c#L57 It is based on the application compatibility list captured at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Ayatana/ScrollBars#Application Compatibility based on user feedback. An apport hook has also been provided (https://bugs.launchpad.net /ayatana-scrollbar/+bug/740278) to tag bug reports generated by systems where the ayatana-scrollbars are installed. Hereby requesting a review of the FFE request. The gtk support patch is up for review at: https://bugs.launchpad.net /ayatana-scrollbar/+bug/740276 (see comment #2) along with an updated branch supporting whitelist, blacklist, and environment variable to control when the feature should be active. A public testing campaign was run during the past weeks, with application compatibility results captured at: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Ayatana/ScrollBars The code for the feature and the gtk patch have been code reviewed per our standard development practices. A very significant performance improvement was also made recently that suppresses slow downs noticed on particular apps (evolution for example). It works on more than a fixed set of applications: the whitelist is meant to enable it by default, for a set of applications that we are testing more thoroughly. It should work for all gtk applications using gtk_scrolled_window, ie most of the gnome applications we know of. The missing LTR support is because we want to test that fully as well. The main resource (Cimi) can't really help with the rest of the unity issues. Cimi is dedicated to toolkit, theme and theme engine improvements for Natty.
