[Bug 1283003] Re: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates
Hi cschramm and thanks for looking at this bug! How do you think we should proceed to release a fix/workaround? [Bug 1283003] Re: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates
@David: If you like I'll push the fix to Debian testing. That's probably the cleanest way to also get it into Ubuntu, isn't it? Sounds like a plan, thanks! Not sure if we sync from Debian unstable or Debian testing these days, but I assume you upload the fix to both. That will bring it into utopic. [Bug 1283003] Re: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates
Thanks Sebastian! Based on what was written in the github report, I've just commented out the module unloading that blueman does, built the result and put it in a ppa here: https://launchpad.net/~diwic/+archive/bluemantest It is possible that blueman messes with more stuff so that just commenting out this part does not resolve the problem, but it's worth a try. [Bug 1283003] Blueman unloads module-bluetooth-discover
Hi Blueman developers, This is an outreach for help - let me know if this is the right channel or not. We seem to have a lot of people claiming that pulseaudio's module-bluetooth-discover is not loaded on startup on 14.04. This causes problems with bluetooth headsets. Reading the code I can see that blueman deliberately unloads module-bluetooth-discover. Do you have a better idea than just removing those lines of code, which probably are there for a reason? [Bug 1283003] Re: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates
Well, since the Linux kernel and PulseAudio both are in main and officially supported, but blueman is not, and one of the problems seems to be that blueman unloads module-bluetooth-discover, how well do things work *without* blueman? I e, uninstall blueman and reboot and see how well the headset works. It probably won't fix your bug if there is a kernel error (such as protocol not supported or re-auth of legacy device not possible), but if the problem is only that module-bluetooth-discover does not load, then removing blueman should fix that. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-bluetooth in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1283003 Title: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/blueman/+bug/1283003/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

@Colum, thanks - from the log we can see that module-bluetooth-discover is unloaded manually. Ok, I first did a quick test here and my BT headset paired, showed up in sound settings, worked as usual, and profile was selectable. So at least the problem is not *that* generic. [Bug 1014897] Re: [sound-nua] sound preference does not provide ac3 passthrough spdif in 5.1 speaker test
About PulseAudio, S/PDIF ac3 output: PulseAudio does not ship an ac3 encoder by default (I believe it is for patent reasons). As such there is no way we can output ac3 in speaker test dialog (and we don't ship pre-encoded 5.1 sample wavs either). As for passthrough support, should be working fairly well in 13.10 (although I have never tested it), but if the input is encoded, there's nothing we can do w r t changing the volumes, as the stream is just passing through in encoded format. [Bug 974963] Re: [soundnua]: hdmi audio missing in sound settings
Ok, let's look again at this bug. First, unfortunately bug 1169984 made it into the 13.04 release, which hits many machines with HDMI audio. So any problems in 13.04 is likely to be bug 1169984. Second, there is a patch ALSA: hda - hdmi: Make jacks phantom, if they're not detectable that hopefully fixes most of these errors. What I recommend at this point (to get the above fix without getting bug 1169984 ) is to install the latest HDA driver and reboot ( https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/UpgradingAlsa/DKMS ). If this helps, you're likely being helped by the next proposed kernel in 13.04 too. If this does not help, you can do the following: * Install the hda-jack-retask package from https://launchpad.net/~diwic/+archive/hda * Start the program (run hda-jack-retask in a terminal). * Select the HDMI codec in the topmost combobox. (If you have more than one, and don't know which one is right, you might have to repeat the below steps for all codecs.) * Select Advanced override * On the HDMI pin that does not show up, click override, then change Jack detection from Present to Not present. * You can then either click Apply now and test this right away, or click Install boot override and reboot to test. Regardless of this is working or not, report back here and attach alsa- info ( https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/AlsaInfo ). [Bug 972554] Re: [soundnua]: new capplet does not expose the sound card profile selection
@Simon, I have taken a deeper look at the pactl list you submitted in comment #28 and just realized the problem is more complex than expected. I thought the problem was related to not being able to select the right combination of input and output, that the output was changed when you changed input and vice versa. In your case, you don't have any output ports at all for the profile you want to select. Fixing that would require some more work, and I'll try to fix that if/when I get around to digging deep into that code again. [Bug 974963] Re: [soundnua]: hdmi audio missing in sound settings
I am not sure what you mean about seeing it in sound settings. In Mythbutu this is Frontend/Setup/Audio I mean, in the Gnome control center. Unless Mythbuntu is running Gnome, you're likely suffering from something different compared to the original bug reporter. Anyway; when you plug your cable in, or possibly when you activate the HDMI screen, you should get Diwic: read_pin_sense for pin 0x3, result = 0x and when you unplug it, you should get Diwic: read_pin_sense for pin 0x3, result = 0x7fff. Note the difference (0x7 unplugged, 0xf plugged). [Bug 984637] Re: [soundnua] moving running input stream fails
Okay, I've now been able to fix the bug that causes the running streams not to be moved when the default source is changed. From looking at the code, it seems to be an upstream bug as well, and might not be a regression for us - if so, it's strange nobody has cared about it until now. [Bug 984637] [NEW] [soundnua] moving running input stream fails
Public bug reported: Steps to reproduce: 1) Connect a USB headset so you have at least two sound card inputs 2) Start your favorite recording program - I've tested with both audacity and mumble 3) Make sure this recording program is set to record from pulseaudio and start recording 4) Open gnome-control-center and change the default sound input from one card to the other. At this point, these two things can be observed: Problem A) The input stream is not moved from one input to the other. Problem B) The input gain of the source we move from, is changed. [Bug 963457] Re: [soundnua]: gnome-control-center crashed with SIGSEGV in g_mutex_lock()
@Guy Taylor, as a workaround you can use the pavucontrol application, available in the repositories as the pavucontrol package. @Seb128, looking from the stack trace, it does not look like PulseAudio's client API is involved in the infinite recursion.
