I tried to do a backtrace with

After one minute and 100% CPU activity I killed nautilus with xkill. The
100% activity persists, and gdb-nautilus.txt contains just 375 bytes.
What else can I do?

[Bug 160704] [Gutsy] IMAP Ping error stops automatic mail check

2007-11-07 Thread Erdal Ronahi
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I am using IMAP with Evolution. While I am online all the time, every 10
minutes my mail is checked.

Frequently I get an error like this:

Error while Pinging IMAP server mail.my-domain.com

This is a bit strange, since the mailserver is really reliable and has
no issues at all. But the real problem is, until I click this away
manually, Evolution will not check for mail again. Since I am running
Evolution minimized, I have to maximize it again and click away the
error message to get new mail. This makes the check automatically for
new mail function quite useless for me.

Expected behaviour:
Evolution may show the error message, but should nevertheless check again 10
minutes later when I am online.

[Bug 156623] [Gutsy] Top panel crashes and disappears forever

When I removed an application launcher (Mozilla Sunbird) from the top

[Bug 152279] Re: [Gutsy] Totem gets aspect ratio wrong on rotated screens

2007-10-19 Thread Erdal Ronahi
The problem is not resolved. While gst-launch gets the aspect ratio
correct all the time, totem doesn't. When set to automatic, it
distorts most but not all films from 4:3 to something super-wide like
8:3 (estimated, but wider than 16:9).

Manual setting of the aspect ratio to 4:3 sometimes helps, sometimes
doesn't.

This has nothing to do with rotation, so we can change the title of the
bug.

[Bug 152279] [Gutsy] Totem gets aspect ratio wrong on rotated screens

2007-10-13 Thread Erdal Ronahi
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

I use a pivot monitor. When I rotate the screen with xrandr -o left or
Grandr, totem gets the aspect ratio wrong. For instance a 4:3 film is
shown as 3:4, that means higher than wide. It is also not possible to
correct the aspect ratio from the GUI menu. New video thumbnails are
also distorted, however in the other direction: They become much wider
than hig.

Kaffeine shows the same buggy behaviour as Totem, while VLC doesn't. VLC
gets the aspect ratio right. This bug was also not there in Feisty.

[Bug 84458] Re: gdmsetup does not work, lacks custom.conf

2007-02-11 Thread Erdal Ronahi
The problem was an old XGL configuration that had belonged to Egdy. I
removed it from /etc/gdm/gdm.conf-custom, and now there is no problem
anymore.

However, I found the error message quite confusing. Of course there is
no file named custom.conf, so the Make sure that the file exists
looks quite logical. However I tried to touch the file, copied my gdm
.conf-custom to custom.conf and tried a lot of other things before I
looked into the configuration itself.

So the error message should be different. I saw in the forum that others
have similar issues with older XGL configurations.

This was the gdm.conf-custom file. Removing the last two sections solved
the problem.

[Bug 84458] gdmsetup does not work, lacks custom.conf

2007-02-10 Thread Erdal Ronahi
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

Calling gdmsetup from a terminal or the GNOME control center results in
this error message:

Could not access configuration file (custom.conf)
Make sure that the file exists before launching login manager config utility.

I don't think this is the same bug as the dbus-reladed bug, since the
error message is different and sudo dbus-launch gdmsetup does not
solve the problem.

[Bug 76815] Re: [FEISTY] gdmsetup doesn't start from menu

2007-02-08 Thread Erdal Ronahi
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 71248 ***

It doesn't look fixed to me. I am running up-to-date feisty, and
gdmsetup can neither be started from the command line nor from the menu.

The error message:

--
Could not access configuration file (custom.conf)
Make sure that the file exists before launching login manager config utility.
--

In /etc/gdm there is no such file. Touching it does not help.

[Bug 77060] No @ in German keyboard, applett crashing when Turkey keyboards present

2007-01-08 Thread Erdal Ronahi
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kbd-chooser

In the standard German keyboard configuration, the @ key has
disappeared. I have this problem on two different computers both running
Edgy.

The problem may be related to the fact that I use also Turkey keyboard
configurations like Alt Q and Kurdish, Latin Q. But even after
removing them from the configuration, the @ is still not there.

Also, if I try to add the keyboard applett to the panel, it crashes.
I'll attach the bug-buddy output. However, these crashes can be
circumvented by removing the Turkey keyboards.
