Hi, I'm experencieng this bug too.
With Ubuntu 10.04 64bit with kernel 2.6.32-23-generic.
If I have wifi on, and than I start Empathy Ubuntu freezes and I have to reset
the laptop.
If I can give more details let me know.

Hi, I'm having a similar problem, but Ubuntu freezes only with wifi on (as it

Seems a kernel problem:

Previous states are taken while the laptop is disconnected from power

bas, to remove the patch you have to remove the files that are in the
script subfolder of the patch from /etc/acpi/ and the files that are
in the events subfolder of the patch from /etc/acpi/events/
Then reboot your laptop and... patch is gone ;-)

Screen brightness doesn't work on Vaio Y
the laptop models of all the vendors.
Anyway, when the problem hits many people (i.e., the laptop is bought by many
people using linux) then probably an official fix will be released.
So, I don't think that an official fix will be released very soon.
