Reproducible on 18.04.3 LTS on a t460s Thinkpad. (Yes, enable function-
lock, or remember to press Fn + ctrl + alt + f3)
Do a normal login and press CTRL-ALT-F1. Now it switches to a virtual
console showing the boot log. Alas there is no way to switch back
to any other virtual console!! Reboot
Typo above, the second CTRL-ALT-F1 in the text above should be CTRL-
ALT-F3

I have temporarily switch back to unity since the stuttering of movies
and general slugginesh due to gnome-shell is not bearable. But let me

Simply moving a window around on the screen increases the cpu usage
by gnome-shell to 44%. When displaying a movie, totem takes 10%, gnome-shell
takes 22%.

This is wrong! This bug has nothing to do with being behind a proxy.

When opening a directory that contains dvi files, the evince-thumbnailer uses
100% cpu
but never completes when it tries to thumbnail a dvi file. This also blocks any
further
thumbnailing of any other kind.
