Re: [Bug 1954478] Re: Loaded Evolution found gjs repeat calls from ding.js overloaded memory froze 21.04
Hi Sergio; I just run chown then ran chmod 777 so I could edited the entire code *# out of the ding.js. I am a very inexperienced programmer. I studied C, C++, J++, Python 2 and 3 but I never built a file for a program. I did desktop support for 20 years: Macintosh, PC -DOS, Windows form 2.0 to current windows 10, NTFS, OS/2, Unix using SMIT, Linux, UBUNTU but I would need many hour of troubleshooting to find what the problem is with the current Ding.js and why it constantly repeats the call to run GJS in an infinite loop. The program can still call ding.js but nothing will run . [Bug 1841826] Re: Going to sleep instead of logging in while lid closed & external display
It finally crashed, no video on suspend. I likely never reached 2 hrs. before I shut down. So everything's similar to others it seems. I'll try some things and see. If I can do anything I'll update. [Bug 1841826] Re: Going to sleep instead of logging in while lid closed & external display
So far this only occurs on the initial login after boot-up. Subsequent suspends do not cause an issue. If I remove the laptop from the dock no issue, but now I only have the laptop screen. The machine I'm using is a W530. For me this appears to be an initial boot-up only issue, of course I still would like to fix this. I can see where if used in lab environments it can be a serious issue, especially if your remote. I've seen Windows Sleep issues years ago, I haven't seen that many lately in Windows. Certain code can cause sleep issues for this laptop, power managers for one. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to mutter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1841826 Title: Going to sleep instead of logging in while lid closed & external display To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/1841826/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1841826] Re: Going to sleep instead of logging in while lid closed & external display
Lenovo 4338 Mini-Dock with Nvidia K1000M running Dual external monitors. Ubuntu 20.04 suspends after login as mentioned. This seemed to start after loading the Nvidia 390 driver since the Nouveau driver did not work correctly. The video is fine now and everything works fine except I login, the suspend occurs, I press the dock power button and the machine runs normally. My first assumption is its the video driver and I searched for suggested fixes or alternative drivers. Not sure which way to go seems like a few Lenovo users here are in the same place.

[Bug 1772791] [NEW] Lock Screen displayed password in clear text on one occasion
*** This bug is a security vulnerability *** Public security bug reported: Hello, folks, Today when I returned to my computer (which I locked with Super+L) and attempted to unlock it, it displayed my passphrase in cleartext in the 'Password' box. I noticed as soon as I got the first character in, then typed in the second character and it stayed clear. I then picked up my phone to record the attached video and while I was fiddling with it to get a good camera shot, the screen locked (for inactivity perhaps?) and when I unlocked this time, the password only displayed as dots (as expected). So unfortunately, I don't know how to replicate. It _did_ occur though, as the attached video will show if you go slowly (look for "hu", the first characters of legendary password "hunter2"). [Bug 1631123] [NEW] package libpam-systemd:i386 229-4ubuntu10 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 128
Public bug reported: Although the automatic bug report above refers to systemd, the situation I experienced was different. I was allowing the automatic updates to proceed, and the small panel which shows progress was stuck at a point where it was displaying "configuring tvtime ..." or something like that. The panel grayed out and stayed that way until I eventually closed that little panel, generating the bug report you now have. In fact this is the second bug report from me in 3 days. [Bug 1463159] Re: automount toggle in disks is reversed in 14.04
Yes Sebastien, I am talking the Automatic Mount Options in Disks and and I agree with your logic, however what I am getting instead with auto mount toggled on and set to mount at startup, the partition is not mounted. [Bug 1463159] Re: automount toggle in disks is reversed in 14.04
Continued: Conversely, setting automount to off, requests authentication to add an entry to fstab and then does so, and at next boot the result is the drive is mounted at boot as seen here: http://imgur.com/cFB1eMg Perhaps it's just me but this seems counter-intuitive. [Bug 1459128] Re: metacity no longer honors keybindings without modmask?
please, please, please, revert this! I also noticed this change when going from 1:2.34.13-0ubuntu4 to 1:2.34.13-0ubuntu4.1. For me, the function keys change between workspaces. When some programs, such as an xterm, have the mouse focus, they steal the definitions of the function keys. Other programs, and the background don't. Likewise, after many, many years of using these shortcuts (long predating ubuntu or metacity), my aged brain cannot rewire itself. For the sake of necessity, I tried converting to alt-Fn instead of Fn, but my fingers get confused most of the time, and it seriously affects my workflow. [Bug 1081019] Re: Benchmark for Harddisk fail
I have the same problem on multiple drives, multiple systems. The only thing that changes is the offset. On a 3 Terabyte drive attached to an internal interface with GUID partition table (model WDC WD3001FAEX- 00MJRA0 (01.01L01)) I get: Error seeking to offset 30005927936 (g-io- error-quark, 13). On a USB 2.0 connected Hitachi 82.3 GB drive with no partition (model TOSHIBA THNSNH128GBST (HTRAN101)) The R/W benchmark actually started but then I got: Error seeking to offset 2470412288 (g-io-error-quark, 13). This is interesting as the drive label indicates the total sectors are 160836480. Disconnected and reconnected this drive and then got: Measuring transfer rate (0.0% complete)… and it hung. 3rd attempt on this drive duplicated first results. [Bug 1295794] [NEW] nautilus opens a new window if clicked on its unity icon even when another nautilus window is open with ntfs drive folder open
Public bug reported: I could not make the title shorter and clearer, please forgive. How to reproduce this bug: On a freshly booted system running Ubuntu 14.04 having unity as its desktop-manager and having at least one NTFS partition on its internal hard disk, do the following: 1) Open a nautilus window and mount an NTFS partition and keep any of the folders on the NTFS partition open in this window. 2) Now open any other application(I opened firefox) and then go back to the nautilus window by pressing on nautilus' unity icon(which should have a small arrow to the left of the nautilus icon, indicating it is already open). Do not use Alt+Tab to go back to nautilus- this works fine. 3) This will open a new nautilus window with the home folder(or whichever is the default path to open when a new nautilus window is opened) and bring the originally opened folder on the NTFS partition. What I expected to happen? Clicking on an already opened nautilus window will open(bring to foreground) the folder on the NTFS partition. What actually happened? A new window with my home folder as its default opening path, opened, giving me two nautilus windows opened. lsb_release -a No LSB modules are available.
